LEVITICUS 9:1-11:47

9 | 1 And on the eighth day it came to be that Mosheh called Aharon and his sons and the elders of Yisra’ĕl.

2 And he said to Aharon, “Take for yourself a young bull as a sin offering and a ram as a burnt offering, a perfect one, and bring them before יהוה.

3 “And speak to the children of Yisra’ĕl, saying, ‘Take a male goat as a sin offering, and a calf and a lamb, both a year old, perfect ones, as a burnt offering,

4 and a bull and a ram as peace offerings, to slaughter before יהוה, and a grain offering mixed with oil. For today יהוה shall appear to you.’ ”

5 And they took what Mosheh commanded before the Tent of Meeting, and all the congregation drew near and stood before יהוה.

6 And Mosheh said, “This is the word which יהוה commanded you to do, so that the esteem of יהוה appears to you.”

7 And Mosheh said to Aharon, “Go to the altar, and prepare your sin offering and your burnt offering, and make atonement for yourself and for the people. And make the offering of the people, and make atonement for them, as יהוה has commanded.”

8 So Aharon came near to the altar and slaughtered the calf of the sin offering, which was for himself.

9 And the sons of Aharon brought the blood to him, and he dipped his finger in the blood, and put it on the horns of the altar, and poured the blood at the base of the altar.

10 And the fat, and the kidneys, and the appendage on the liver of the sin offering he burned on the altar, as יהוה had commanded Mosheh.

11 And the flesh and the skin he burned with fire outside the camp.

12 And he slaughtered the burnt offering, and the sons of Aharon presented to him the blood, which he sprinkled on the altar all around.

13 And they presented the burnt offering to him, with its pieces and head, and he burned them on the altar.

14 And he washed the entrails and the legs, and burned them with the burnt offering on the altar.

15 And he brought the people’s offering, and took the goat, which was the sin offering for the people, and slaughtered it and made it a sin offering, like the first one.

16 And he brought the burnt offering and made it, according to the right-ruling.

17 He also brought the grain offering, and filled his hand with it, and burned it on the altar, besides the burnt offering of the morning.

18 And he slaughtered the bull and the ram as peace offerings, which were for the people. And Aharon’s sons presented to him the blood, which he sprinkled on the altar all around,

19 and the fat from the bull and the ram, the fat tail, and the covering, and the kidneys, and the appendage on the liver,

20 and they placed the fat on the breasts, and he burned the fat on the altar.

21 But the breasts and the right thigh Aharon waved as a wave offering before יהוה, as Mosheh had commanded.

22 Aharon then lifted up his hand toward the people and blessed them, and came down from making the sin offering, and the burnt offering, and the peace offerings.

23 And Mosheh and Aharon went into the Tent of Meeting, and came out and blessed the people. And the esteem of יהוה appeared to all the people,

24 and fire came out from before יהוה and consumed the burnt offering and the fat on the altar. And all the people saw and cried aloud and fell on their faces.

10 | 1 And Naḏaḇ and Aḇihu, the sons of Aharon, each took his fire holder and put fire in it, and put incense on it, and brought strange fire before יהוה, which He had not commanded them.

2 And fire came out from יהוה and consumed them, and they died before יהוה.

3 Then Mosheh said to Aharon, “This is what יהוה spoke, saying, ‘By those who come near Me let Me be set-apart! And before all the people let Me be esteemed!’ ” And Aharon was silent.

4 And Mosheh called to Misha’ĕl and to Eltsaphan, the sons of Uzzi’ĕl the uncle of Aharon, and said to them, “Come near, take your brothers from before the set-apart place out of the camp.”

5 So they came near and took them by their long shirts out of the camp, as Mosheh had said.

6 And Mosheh said to Aharon, and to El‛azar and to Ithamar, his sons, “Do not unbind your heads nor tear your garments, lest you die, and wrath come upon all the people. But let your brothers, all the house of Yisra’ĕl, bewail the burning which יהוה has kindled.

7 “And do not go out from the door of the Tent of Meeting, lest you die, for the anointing oil of יהוה is upon you.” And they did according to the word of Mosheh.

8 And יהוה spoke to Aharon, saying,

9 “Do not drink wine or strong drink, you, nor your sons with you, when you go into the Tent of Meeting, lest you die – a law forever throughout your generations,

10 so as to make a distinction between the set-apart and the profane, and between the unclean and the clean,

11 and to teach the children of Yisra’ĕl all the laws which יהוה has spoken to them by the hand of Mosheh.”

12 And Mosheh spoke to Aharon, and to El‛azar and Ithamar, his sons who were left, “Take the grain offering that is left over from the offerings made by fire to יהוה, and eat it without leaven beside the altar, for it is most set-apart.

13 “And you shall eat it in a set-apart place, because it is yours by law and your sons’ by law, of the offerings made by fire to יהוה, for so I have been commanded.

14 “And the breast of the wave offering and the thigh of the contribution you eat in a clean place, you, and your sons, and your daughters with you. For they are yours by law and your sons’ by law, which are given from the slaughterings of peace offerings of the children of Yisra’ĕl.

15 “The thigh of the contribution and the breast of the wave offering they bring with the offerings of fat made by fire, to bring as a wave offering before יהוה. And it shall be yours and your sons’ with you, by a law forever, as יהוה has commanded.”

16 And Mosheh diligently looked for the goat of the sin offering and saw it was burned up. And he was wroth with El‛azar and Ithamar, the sons of Aharon who were left, saying,

17 “Why have you not eaten the sin offering in a set-apart place, since it is most set-apart, and Elohim has given it to you to bear the crookedness of the congregation, to make atonement for them before יהוה?

18 “See, its blood was not brought inside the set-apart place. You should have eaten it without fail in a set-apart place, as I have commanded.”

19 And Aharon said to Mosheh, “See, today they have brought their sin offering and their burnt offering before יהוה, and matters like these have come to me! If I had eaten the sin offering today, would it have been right in the eyes of יהוה?”

20 And when Mosheh heard that, it was good in his eyes.

11 | 1 And יהוה spoke to Mosheh and to Aharon, saying to them,

2 “Speak to the children of Yisra’ĕl, saying, ‘These are the living creatures which you do eat among all the beasts that are on the earth:

3 ‘Whatever has a split hoof completely divided, chewing the cud, among the beasts, that you do eat.

4 ‘Only, these you do not eat among those that chew the cud or those that have a split hoof: the camel, because it chews the cud but does not have a split hoof, it is unclean to you;

5 and the rabbit, because it chews the cud but does not have a split hoof, it is unclean to you;

6 and the hare, because it chews the cud but does not have a split hoof, it is unclean to you;

7 and the pig, though it has a split hoof, completely divided, yet does not chew the cud, it is unclean to you.

8 ‘Their flesh you do not eat, and their carcasses you do not touch. They are unclean to you.

9 ‘These you do eat of all that are in the waters: any one that has fins and scales in the waters, in the seas or in the rivers, that you do eat.

10 ‘But all that have not fins and scales in the seas and in the rivers, all that move in the waters or any living creature which is in the waters, they are an abomination to you.

11 ‘They are an abomination to you – of their flesh you do not eat, and their carcasses you abominate.

12 ‘All that have not fins or scales in the waters is an abomination to you.

13 ‘And these you do abominate among the birds, they are not eaten, they are an abomination: the eagle, and the vulture, and the black vulture,

14 and the hawk, and the falcon after its kind,

15 every raven after its kind,

16 and the ostrich, and the nighthawk, and the seagull, and the hawk after its kind,

17 and the little owl, and the fisher owl, and the great owl,

18 and the white owl, and the pelican, and the carrion vulture,

19 and the stork, the heron after its kind, and the hoopoe, and the bat.

20 ‘All flying insects that creep on all fours is an abomination to you.

21 ‘Only, these you do eat of every flying insect that creeps on all fours: those which have jointed legs above their feet with which to leap on the earth.

22 ‘These of them you do eat: the locust after its kind, and the destroying locust after its kind, and the cricket after its kind, and the grasshopper after its kind.

23 ‘But all other flying insects which have four feet is an abomination to you.

24 ‘And by these you are made unclean, anyone touching the carcass of any of them is unclean until evening,

25 and anyone picking up part of the carcass of any of them has to wash his garments, and shall be unclean until evening.

26 ‘Every beast that has a split hoof not completely divided, or does not chew the cud, is unclean to you. Anyone who touches their carcass is unclean.

27 ‘And whatever goes on its paws, among all the creatures that go on all fours, those are unclean to you. Anyone who touches their carcass is unclean until evening,

28 and he who picks up their carcass has to wash his garments, and shall be unclean until evening. They are unclean to you.

29 ‘And these are unclean to you among the creeping creatures that creep on the earth: the mole, and the mouse, and the tortoise after its kind,

30 and the gecko, and the land crocodile, and the sand reptile, and the sand lizard, and the chameleon.

31 ‘These are unclean to you among all that creep. Anyone who touches them when they are dead becomes unclean until evening.

32 ‘And whatever any of them in its dead state falls upon, becomes unclean, whether it is any wooden object or garment or skin or sack, any object in which work is done, it is put in water. And it shall be unclean until evening, then it shall be clean.

33 ‘Any earthen vessel into which any of them falls, whatever is in it becomes unclean, and you break it.

34 ‘Any of the food which might be eaten, on which water comes, becomes unclean, and any drink which might be drunk from it becomes unclean.

35 ‘And on whatever any of their carcass falls becomes unclean – an oven or cooking range – it is broken down. They are unclean, and are unclean to you.

36 ‘But a fountain or a well, a collection of water, is clean, but whatever touches their carcass is unclean.

37 ‘And when any of their carcass falls on any planting seed which is to be sown, it is clean.

38 ‘But when any water is put on the seed and any part of any such carcass falls on it, it is unclean to you.

39 ‘And when any of the beasts which are yours for food dies, he who touches its carcass becomes unclean until evening.

40 ‘And he who eats of its carcass has to wash his garments, and shall be unclean until evening. And he who picks up its carcass has to wash his garments, and shall be unclean until evening.

41 ‘And every creeping creature that creeps on the earth is an abomination, it is not eaten.

42 ‘Whatever crawls on its stomach, and whatever goes on all fours, and whatever has many feet among all creeping creatures that creep on the earth, these you do not eat, for they are an abomination.

43 ‘Do not make yourselves abominable with any creeping creature that creeps, and do not make yourselves unclean with them, lest you be defiled by them.

44 ‘For I am יהוה your Elohim, and you shall set yourselves apart. And you shall be set-apart, for I am set-apart. And do not defile yourselves with any creeping creature that creeps on the earth.

45 ‘For I am יהוה who is bringing you up out of the land of Mitsrayim, to be your Elohim. And you shall be set-apart, for I am set-apart.

46 ‘This is the Torah of the beasts and the birds and every living creature that moves in the waters, and of every creature that creeps on the earth,

47 to make a distinction between the unclean and the clean, and between the living creature that is eaten and the living creature that is not eaten.’ ”

ISAIAH 40:1-31

40 | 1 “Comfort, comfort My people!” says your Elohim.

2 “Speak to the heart of Yerushalayim, and cry out to her, that her hard service is completed, that her crookedness is pardoned, that she has received from the hand of יהוה double for all her sins.”

3 The voice of one crying in the wilderness, “Prepare the way of יהוה; make straight in the desert a highway for our Elohim.

4 “Let every valley be raised, and every mountain and hill made low. And the steep ground shall become level, and the rough places smooth.

5 “And the esteem of יהוה shall be revealed, and all flesh together shall see it. For the mouth of יהוה has spoken.”

6 The voice said, “Cry out!” and he said, “What do I cry?” “All flesh is grass, and all its loveliness is like the flower of the field.

7 “Grass shall wither, the flower shall fade, when the Spirit of יהוה has blown on it! Truly the people is grass!

8 “Grass shall wither, the flower shall fade, but the Word of our Elohim stands forever.”

9 You who bring good news to Tsiyon, get up into the high mountain. You who bring good news to Yerushalayim, lift up your voice with strength, lift it up, be not afraid. Say to the cities of Yehuḏah, “See your Elohim!”

10 See, the Master יהוה comes with a strong hand, and His arm rules for Him. See, His reward is with Him, and His recompense before Him.

11 He feeds His flock like a shepherd, He gathers the lambs with His arm, and carries them in His bosom, gently leading those who are with young.

12 Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and measured the heavens with a span, and contained the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales and the hills in a balance?

13 Who has meted out the Spirit of יהוה, or as His counsellor taught Him?

14 With whom did He take counsel, and who instructed Him, and taught Him in the path of right-ruling? Who taught Him knowledge, and showed Him the way of understanding?

15 See, nations are as a drop in a bucket, and are reckoned as dust on the balance. See, He lifts up isles as fine dust.

16 And Leḇanon is not enough to burn, nor its beasts enough for a burnt offering.

17 All nations before Him are as a non-entity, and they are reckoned by Him as less than a speck, and emptiness.

18 And to whom would you liken Ěl? And what likeness would you compare to Him?

19 The workman moulds a graven image, and the goldsmith overspreads it with gold, and the silversmith casts silver chains.

20 He who is too poor for such an offering chooses a tree that does not rot. He seeks for himself a skilled craftsman to prepare a carved image that does not totter.

21 Did you not know? Have you not heard? Has it not been declared to you from the beginning? Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth?

22 It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in,

23 who brings princes to naught, shall make the rulers of the earth as emptiness.

24 Hardly have they been planted, hardly have they been sown, hardly has their stock taken root in the earth, when He shall blow on them and they wither, and a whirlwind take them away like stubble.

25 “And to whom then do you liken Me, or to whom am I compared?” says the Set-apart One.

26 Lift up your eyes on high and see. Who has created these? He who is bringing out their host by number, He calls them all by name, by the greatness of His might and the strength of His power – not one is missing.

27 Why do you say, O Ya‛aqoḇ, and speak, O Yisra’ĕl, “My way is hidden from יהוה, and my rights are overlooked by my Elohim”?

28 Did you not know? Have you not heard? The everlasting Elohim, יהוה, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable.

29 He gives power to the faint, and to those who have no might He increases strength.

30 Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men stumble and fall,

31 but those who wait on יהוה renew their strength, they raise up the wing like eagles, they run and are not weary, they walk and do not faint.

1 SAMUEL 2:1-3:21

2 | 1 And Ḥannah prayed and said, “My heart rejoices in יהוה, my horn has been high in יהוה. My mouth is opened wide over my enemies, for I have rejoiced in Your deliverance.

2 “There is no one set-apart like יהוה, for there is no one besides You, and there is no rock like our Elohim.

3 “Do not multiply words so proudly, proudly; let no arrogance come from your mouth, for יהוה is an Ěl of knowledge, and by Him deeds are weighed.

4 “Bows of the mighty are broken, and those who stumble shall be girded with strength.

5 “The satisfied have hired themselves out for bread, and the hungry have ceased. Even the barren has borne seven, and she who has many children pines away.

6 “יהוה puts to death and makes alive, He brings down to the grave and raises up.

7 “יהוה makes poor and makes rich, He brings low and lifts up.

8 “He raises the poor from the dust, He lifts the needy from the dunghill, to sit with princes, and make them inherit a throne of esteem. For the supports of the earth belong to יהוה, and He has set the world upon them.

9 “He guards the feet of His kind ones, but the wrong are silent in darkness, for man does not become mighty by power.

10 “Those who oppose יהוה are shattered, from the heavens He thunders against them. יהוה judges the ends of the earth, and gives strength to His sovereign, and exalts the horn of His anointed.”

11 And Elqanah went to his house at Ramah. But the youth served יהוה before Ěli the priest.

12 And the sons of Ěli were sons of Beliya‛al – they did not know יהוה.

13 And the ruling of the priests with the people was that when any man offered a slaughtering, the priest’s servant shall come with a three-pronged flesh-hook in his hand while the meat was cooking,

14 and shall thrust it into the basin, or kettle, or cauldron, or pot. And the priest would take for himself all that the flesh-hook brought up. Thus they did in Shiloh to all the Yisra’ĕlites who came there.

15 Also, before they burned the fat, the priest’s servant would come and say to the man who slaughtered, “Give meat for roasting to the priest, for he does not accept cooked meat from you, but raw.”

16 And if the man said to him, “Let the fat be burned up first, then take as much as your being desires,” he would then answer him, “No, but give it to me now. And if not, I shall take it by strength.”

17 And the sin of the young men was very great before יהוה, for the men despised the offering of יהוה.

18 But Shemu’ĕl was attending before יהוה – a youth, wearing a linen shoulder garment.

19 And his mother would make him a little robe, and bring it to him year by year when she came up with her husband to offer the yearly slaughtering.

20 And Ěli blessed Elqanah and his wife, and said, “יהוה give you offspring from this woman for the one she prayed for and gave to יהוה.” Then they would go to their own home.

21 And יהוה visited Ḥannah, so that she conceived and bore three sons and two daughters, while the young Shemu’ĕl grew before יהוה.

22 And Ěli was very old, and had heard all that his sons were doing to all Yisra’ĕl, and how they lay with the women who were assembling at the door of the Tent of Meeting.

23 And he said to them, “Why do you do deeds like these? For I hear of your evil deeds from all the people.

24 “No, my sons! For it is not a good report that I hear: making the people of יהוה transgress.

25 “If one man sins against another, Elohim shall judge him. But if a man sins against יהוה, who shall pray for him?” But they did not listen to the voice of their father, though יהוה was pleased to put them to death.

26 And the young Shemu’ĕl was growing in stature, and was in favour with יהוה and also with men.

27 And a man of Elohim came to Ěli and said to him, “Thus said יהוה, ‘Did I not clearly reveal Myself to the house of your father when they were in Mitsrayim in Pharaoh’s house,

28 even to choose him out of all the tribes of Yisra’ĕl to be My priest, to offer upon My altar, to burn incense, and to wear a shoulder garment before Me? And did I not give to the house of your father all the offerings of the children of Yisra’ĕl made by fire?

29 ‘Why do you kick at My slaughtering and My offering which I have commanded in My Dwelling Place, and esteem your sons above Me, to make yourselves fat with the best of all the offerings of Yisra’ĕl My people?’

30 “Therefore יהוה Elohim of Yisra’ĕl declares, ‘I said indeed that your house and the house of your father would walk before Me forever.’ But now יהוה declares, ‘Far be it from Me, for those who highly esteem Me I highly esteem, and those who despise Me are lightly esteemed.

31 ‘See, the days are coming that I shall cut off your arm and the arm of your father’s house, so that an old man shall not be found in your house.

32 ‘And you shall see an enemy in My Dwelling Place, despite all the good which Elohim does for Yisra’ĕl, and there shall not be an old man in your house forever.

33 ‘But any of your men whom I do not cut off from My altar is to consume your eyes and grieve your life, and all the increase of your house die as men.

34 ‘And this is the sign to you that comes upon your two sons, upon Ḥophni and Pineḥas: in one day they are going to die, both of them.

35 ‘And I shall raise up for Myself a trustworthy priest who does according to what is in My heart and in My being. And I shall build him a steadfast house, and he shall walk before My anointed forever.

36 ‘And it shall be that everyone who is left in your house shall come and bow down to him for a piece of silver and a cake of bread, and say, “Please, put me in one of the priestly positions to eat a piece of bread.”

3 | 1 And the young Shemu’ĕl was serving יהוה before Ěli. And the word of יהוה was rare in those days – no vision breaking forth.

2 And it came to be in that day, that Ěli was lying down in his place. And his eyes had begun to grow so dim that he was unable to see,

3 And the lamp of Elohim had not gone out in the Hĕḵal of יהוה where the ark of Elohim was, and Shemu’ĕl was lying down to sleep.

4 And יהוה called Shemu’ĕl, and he answered, “Here I am!”

5 He then ran to Ěli and said, “Here I am, for you called me.” But he said, “I did not call – lie down again.” So he went and lay down.

6 And יהוה again called, “Shemu’ĕl!” And Shemu’ĕl arose and went to Ěli, and said, “Here I am, for you called me.” But he answered, “My son, I did not call – lie down again.”

7 Now Shemu’ĕl did not yet know יהוה, and the word of יהוה was not yet revealed to him.

8 And יהוה called Shemu’ĕl again the third time, and he arose and went to Ěli, and said, “Here I am, for you did call me.” Then Ěli understood that יהוה had called the youth.

9 So Ěli said to Shemu’ĕl, “Go, lie down. And it shall be, if He calls you, say, ‘Speak, יהוה, for Your servant hears.’ ” And Shemu’ĕl went and lay down in his place.

10 And יהוה came and stood and called as at other times, “Shemu’ĕl! Shemu’ĕl!” And Shemu’ĕl answered, “Speak, for Your servant hears.”

11 And יהוה said to Shemu’ĕl, “See, I am doing a matter in Yisra’ĕl at which both ears of everyone who hears it shall tingle.

12 “In that day I shall confirm against Ěli all that I have spoken concerning his house, from beginning to end.

13 “For I have declared to him that I am judging his house forever for the crookedness which he knows, because his sons cursed Elohim, and he did not rebuke them.

14 “And therefore I have sworn to the house of Ěli that the crookedness of the house of Ěli shall never be atoned for, by slaughtering or grain offering.”

15 And Shemu’ĕl lay down until morning, and opened the doors of the House of יהוה. And Shemu’ĕl was afraid to report the vision to Ěli.

16 Then Ěli called Shemu’ĕl and said, “Shemu’ĕl, my son!” And he answered, “Here I am.”

17 And he said, “What is the word that He spoke to you? Please do not hide it from me. Elohim do so to you, and more also, if you hide a word from me of all the words that He spoke to you.”

18 And Shemu’ĕl reported to him all the words, and hid none from him. And he said, “It is יהוה. Let Him do what is good in His eyes.”

19 And Shemu’ĕl grew up, and יהוה was with him and did not let any of his words fall to the ground.

20 And all Yisra’ĕl from Dan to Be’ĕrsheḇa knew that Shemu’ĕl had been established as a prophet of יהוה.

21 And יהוה continued to appear in Shiloh, because יהוה revealed Himself to Shemu’ĕl in Shiloh by the word of יהוה.

JOHN 18:19-40

18 | 19 Then the high priest asked יהושע about His taught ones and His teaching.

20 יהושע answered him, “I spoke openly to the world. I always taught in the congregation and in the Set-apart Place, where the Yehuḏim always meet, and I spoke no word in secret.

21 “Why do you ask Me? Ask those who have heard Me what I said to them. See, they know what I said.”

22 And when He had said this, one of the officers who stood by slapped יהושע in the face, saying, “Do You answer the high priest this way?”

23 יהושע answered him, “If I have spoken evilly, bear witness of the evil, but if well, why do you strike Me?”

24 Then Ḥanan sent Him bound to the high priest, Qayapha.

25 And Shim‛on Kĕpha was standing and warming himself. Then they said to him, “Are you also one of His taught ones?” He denied it and said, “I am not!”

26 One of the servants of the high priest, a relative of the one whose ear Kĕpha cut off, said, “Did I not see you in the garden with Him?”

27 Then Kĕpha again denied it, and immediately a cock crowed.

28 Then they led יהושע from Qayapha to the palace, and it was early. And they themselves did not go into the palace, lest they should be defiled, but that they might eat the Passover.

29 Pilate, therefore, came out to them and said, “What accusation do you bring against this Man?”

30 They answered and said to him, “If He were not an evil-doer, we would not have delivered Him up to you.”

31 Then Pilate said to them, “You take Him and judge Him according to your law.” The Yehuḏim said to him, “It is not right for us to put anyone to death,”

32 in order that the word of יהושע might be filled which He spoke, signifying by what death He was about to die.

33 Then Pilate went back into the palace, and called יהושע, and said to Him, “Are You the Sovereign of the Yehuḏim?”

34 יהושע answered him, “Do you say this from yourself, or did others talk to you about Me?”

35 Pilate answered, “Am I a Yehuḏite? Your own nation and the chief priests have delivered You to me. What did You do?”

36 יהושע answered, “My reign is not of this world. If My reign were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Yehuḏim. But now My reign is not from here.”

37 Then Pilate said to Him, “You are a sovereign, then?” יהושע answered, “You say it, because I am a sovereign. For this I was born, and for this I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.”

38 Pilate said to Him, “What is truth?” And when he had said this, he went out again to the Yehuḏim, and said to them, “I find no guilt in Him.

39 “But you have a habit that I shall release someone to you at the Passover. Do you wish, then, that I release to you the Sovereign of the Yehuḏim?”

40 Then they all shouted again, saying, “Not this One, but Barabba!” And Barabba was a robber.

2 JOHN 1:1-13

2 | 1 The elder, to a chosen Kuria and her children, whom I love in truth, and not only I, but also all those who have known the truth,

2 because of the truth which stays in us and shall be with us forever:

3 Favour, compassion, peace be with you from Elohim the Father, and from the Master יהושע Messiah, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

4 I rejoiced greatly because I found some of your children walking in truth, as we received a command from the Father.

5 And now I ask you, Kuria, not as though I wrote a fresh command to you, but that which we have had from the beginning: that we love one another.

6 And this is the love, that we walk according to His commands.a This is the command, that as you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in it.

7 Because many who are leading astray went out into the world who do not confess יהושע Messiah as coming in the flesh. This one is he who is leading astray and the anti-messiah.

8 See to yourselves, that we do not lose what we worked for, but that we might receive a complete reward.

9 Everyone who is transgressing and not staying in the teaching of Messiah does not possess Elohim.a The one who stays in the teaching of Messiah possesses both the Father and the Son.b
