NUMBERS 25:10 – 30:1

25|10 And יהוה spoke to Mosheh, saying,

11 “Pineḥas, son of El‛azar, son of Aharon the priest, has turned back My wrath from the children of Yisra’ĕl, because he was ardent with My ardour in their midst, so that I did not consume the children of Yisra’ĕl in My ardour.

12 “Therefore say, ‘See, I am giving him My covenant of peace,

13 and it shall be to him and to his seed after him a covenant of an everlasting priesthood, because he was ardent for his Elohim, and made atonement for the children of Yisra’ĕl.’ ”

14 And the name of the Yisra’ĕlite who was killed, who was killed with the Miḏyanite woman, was Zimri, son of Salu, a leader of a father’s house among the Shim‛onites.

15 And the name of the Miḏyanite woman who was killed was Kozbi the daughter of Tsur. He was head of the people of a father’s house in Miḏyan.

16 And יהוה spoke to Mosheh, saying,

17 “Distress the Miḏyanites! And you shall smite them,

18  for they distressed you with their tricks with which they deceived you in the matter of Pe‛or and in the matter of Kozbi, the daughter of a leader of Miḏyan, their sister, who was killed in the day of the plague because of Pe‛or.”

26| 1 And it came to be, after the plague, that יהוה spoke to Mosheh and El‛azar, son of Aharon the priest, saying,

53 “The land is to be divided to these as an inheritance, according to the number of names.

54 “To the large one you give a larger inheritance, and to the small one you give a smaller inheritance. Each shall be given its inheritance according to their registered ones.

55 “But the land is divided by lot, they inherit according to the names of the tribes of their fathers.

56 “According to the lot their inheritance is divided between the larger and the smaller.”

57 And these are the registered ones of the Lĕwites according to their clans: of Gĕreshon, the clan of the Gĕreshonites; of Qehath, the clan of the Qehathites; of Merari, the clan of the Merarites.

59 And the name of Amram’s wife was Yoḵeḇeḏ the daughter of Lĕwi, who was born to Lĕwi in Mitsrayim. And to Amram she bore Aharon and Mosheh and their sister Miryam.

60 And to Aharon were born Naḏaḇ and Aḇihu, El‛azar and Ithamar.

61 And Naḏaḇ and Aḇihu died when they brought strange fire before יהוה.

62 And their registered ones were twenty-three thousand, every male from a month old and above. For they were not registered among the other children of Yisra’ĕl, because there was no inheritance given to them among the children of Yisra’ĕl.

63 These are the ones registered by Mosheh and El‛azar the priest, who registered the sons of Yisra’ĕl in the desert plains of Mo’aḇ by the Yardĕn of Yeriḥo.

64 But among these there was not a man of those registered by Mosheh and Aharon the priest when they registered the sons of Yisra’ĕl in the Wilderness of Sinai.

65 For יהוה had said of them, “They shall certainly die in the wilderness.” And not a man was left of them, except Kalĕḇ son of Yephunneh, and Yehoshua son of Nun.

27| 1 Then came the daughters of Tselophḥaḏ, son of Ḥĕpher, son of Gil‛aḏ, son of Maḵir, son of Menashsheh, from the clans of Menashsheh, son of Yosĕph. And these were the names of his daughters: Maḥlah, No‛ah, and Ḥog̅lah, and Milkah, and Tirtsah.

2 And they stood before Mosheh, and before El‛azar the priest, and before the leaders and all the congregation, by the doorway of the Tent of Meeting, saying,

3 “Our father died in the wilderness, yet he was not in the company of those who were met together against יהוה, in company with Qoraḥ, but he died in his own sin. And he had no sons.

4 “Why should the name of our father be removed from among his clan because he had no son? Give us a possession among the brothers of our father.”

5 Mosheh then brought their case before יהוה.

6 And יהוה spoke to Mosheh, saying,

7 “The daughters of Tselophḥaḏ speak what is right. You should certainly give them a possession of inheritance among their father’s brothers, and cause the inheritance of their father to pass to them.

8 “And speak to the children of Yisra’ĕl, saying, ‘When a man dies and has no son, then you shall cause his inheritance to pass to his daughter.

9 ‘And if he has no daughter, then you shall give his inheritance to his brothers.

10 ‘And if he has no brothers, then you shall give his inheritance to his father’s brothers.

11 ‘And if his father has no brothers, then you shall give his inheritance to the nearest relative in his clan, and he shall possess it.’ ” And it shall be to the children of Yisra’ĕl a law of right-ruling, as יהוה commanded Mosheh.

12 And יהוה said to Mosheh, “Go up into this Mount Aḇarim, and see the land which I have given to the children of Yisra’ĕl.

13 “And when you have seen it, you also shall be gathered to your people as Aharon your brother was gathered,

14 because you rebelled against My mouth in the Wilderness of Tsin, in the strife of the congregation, to set Me apart at the waters before their eyes.” These were the waters of Meriḇah, at Qaḏĕsh in the Wilderness of Tsin.

15 And Mosheh spoke to יהוה, saying,

16 “Let יהוה, the Elohim of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the congregation,

17 who goes out before them and comes in before them, who leads them out and brings them in, so that the congregation of יהוה be not like sheep without a shepherd.”

18 And יהוה said to Mosheh, “Take Yehoshua son of Nun with you, a man in whom is the Spirit. And you shall lay your hand on him,

19 and shall set him before El‛azar the priest and before all the congregation, and give him charge before their eyes,

20 and shall put some of your esteem upon him, so that all the congregation of the children of Yisra’ĕl obey him.

21 “And he is to stand before El‛azar the priest, who shall inquire before יהוה for him by the right-ruling of the Urim. At his word they go out, and at his word they come in, both he and all the children of Yisra’ĕl with him, all the congregation.”

22 And Mosheh did as יהוה commanded him, and took Yehoshua and set him before El‛azar the priest and before all the congregation,

23 and laid his hands on him and commissioned him, as יהוה commanded by the hand of Mosheh.

28| 1 And יהוה spoke to Mosheh, saying,

2 “Command the children of Yisra’ĕl, and you shall say to them, ‘Take heed to bring My offering, My food for My offerings made by fire as a sweet fragrance to Me, at their appointed time.’

3 “And you shall say to them, ‘This is the offering made by fire which you bring to יהוה: two male lambs a year old, perfect ones, daily, a continual burnt offering.

4 ‘The one lamb you prepare in the morning, and the other lamb you prepare between the evenings,

5 with one-tenth of an ĕphah of fine flour as a grain offering mixed with one-fourth of a hin of pressed oil,

6 a continual burnt offering which was offered at Mount Sinai for a sweet fragrance, an offering made by fire to יהוה,

7 and its drink offering, one-fourth of a hin for each lamb. Pour out the drink to יהוה as an offering in the set-apart place.

8 ‘And the other lamb you prepare between the evenings. As the morning grain offering and its drink offering, you prepare it as an offering made by fire, a sweet fragrance to יהוה.

9 ‘And on the Sabbath day two lambs a year old, perfect ones, and two-tenths of an ĕphah of fine flour as a grain offering, mixed with oil, with its drink offering,

10 the burnt offering for every Sabbath, besides the continual burnt offering with its drink offering.

13 and one-tenth of an ĕphah of fine flour, mixed with oil, as a grain offering for each lamb, as a burnt offering of sweet fragrance, an offering made by fire to יהוה.

14 ‘And their drink offering is half a hin of wine for a bull, and one-third of a hin for a ram, and one-fourth of a hin for a lamb. This is the burnt offering for each month throughout the months of the year,

15 and one male goat as a sin offering to יהוה is prepared, besides the continual burnt offering and its drink offering.

16 ‘And in the first month, on the fourteenth day, is the Passover of יהוה,

17 and on the fifteenth day of this month is a festival. For seven days unleavened bread is eaten.

18 ‘On the first day is a set-apart gathering, you do no servile work.

19 ‘And you shall bring near an offering made by fire as a burnt offering to יהוה: two young bulls and one ram, and seven lambs a year old, perfect ones they are for you,

20 and their grain offering, fine flour mixed with oil. Prepare three-tenths of an ĕphah for a bull, and two-tenths for a ram.

21 ‘Prepare one-tenth of an ĕphah for each of the seven lambs,

22 and one goat as a sin offering, to make atonement for you.

23 ‘Prepare these besides the burnt offering of the morning, which is for a continual burnt offering.

24 ‘According to these you are to prepare the food of the offering made by fire daily for seven days, as a sweet fragrance to יהוה. It is prepared besides the continual burnt offering and its drink offering.

25 ‘And on the seventh day you have a set-apart gathering, you do no servile work.

26 ‘And on the day of the first-fruits, when you bring a new grain offering to יהוה at your Festival of Weeks, you have a set-apart gathering, you do no servile work.

27 ‘And you shall bring near a burnt offering as a sweet fragrance to יהוה: two young bulls, one ram, and seven lambs a year old,

28 with their grain offering of fine flour mixed with oil: three-tenths of an ĕphah for each bull, two-tenths for the one ram,

29 one-tenth for each of the seven lambs,

30 one male goat to make atonement for you,

31 perfect ones they are for you. Prepare them with their drink offerings, besides the continual burnt offering with its grain offering.

29| 1 ‘And in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you have a set-apart gathering, you do no servile work, it is a day of blowing the trumpets for you.

2 ‘And you shall prepare a burnt offering as a sweet fragrance to יהוה: one young bull, one ram, seven lambs a year old, perfect ones,

3 and their grain offering: fine flour mixed with oil, three-tenths of an ĕphah for the bull, two-tenths for the ram,

4 and one-tenth for each of the seven lambs,

5 and one male goat as a sin offering, to make atonement for you,

6 besides the burnt offering with its grain offering for the New Moon, the continual burnt offering with its grain offering, and their drink offerings, according to their right-ruling, as a sweet fragrance, an offering made by fire to יהוה.

7 ‘And on the tenth day of this seventh month you have a set-apart gathering, and you shall afflict your beings, you do no work.

8 ‘And you shall bring near a burnt offering to יהוה, a sweet fragrance: one young bull, one ram, seven lambs a year old, perfect ones they are for you,

9 and their grain offering: fine flour mixed with oil, three-tenths of an ĕphah for the bull, two-tenths for the one ram,

10 one-tenth for each of the seven lambs,

11 one male goat as a sin offering, besides the sin offering for atonement, the continual burnt offering with its grain offering, and their drink offerings.

12 ‘And on the fifteenth day of the seventh month you have a set-apart gathering, you do no servile work. And you shall observe a festival to יהוה seven days,

13 and you shall bring near a burnt offering, an offering made by fire, a sweet fragrance to יהוה: thirteen young bulls, two rams, fourteen lambs a year old, perfect ones they are,

14 and their grain offering: fine flour mixed with oil, three-tenths of an ĕphah for each of the thirteen bulls, two-tenths for each of the two rams,

15 and one-tenth for each of the fourteen lambs,

16 and one male goat as a sin offering, besides the continual burnt offering, its grain offering, and its drink offering.

17 ‘Then on the second day: twelve young bulls, two rams, fourteen lambs a year old, perfect ones,

19 and one male goat as a sin offering, besides the continual burnt offering with its grain offering, and their drink offerings.

20 ‘And on the third day eleven bulls, two rams, fourteen lambs a year old, perfect ones,

39 ‘These you prepare to יהוה at your appointed times, besides your vowed offerings and your voluntary offerings, as your burnt offerings and your grain offerings, as your drink offerings and your peace offerings.’ ”

40 And Mosheh spoke to the children of Yisra’ĕl according to all יהוה had commanded Mosheh.

30| 1 And Mosheh spoke to the heads of the tribes concerning the children of Yisra’ĕl, saying, “This is the word which יהוה has commanded:

ISAIAH 63:1 – 64:12

63|1 Who is this coming from Eḏom, with garments of glowing colors from Botsrah, who is robed in splendor, striding forward in the greatness of His strength? “It is I who speak in righteousness, mighty to save.”

2 Why is there red on Your raiment, and Your garments like one who treads in the winepress?

3 “I have trodden the winepress alone, and from the peoples no one was with Me. And I trod them down in My displeasure, and I trampled them in My wrath. Their blood is sprinkled upon My garments, and I have defiled all My raiment.

4 “For a day of vengeance is in My heart, and the year of My redeemed has come.

5 “And I looked, but there was none helping, and I was astonished that there was none upholding. So My own arm saved for Me, and My wrath upheld Me.

6 “And I trod down peoples in My displeasure, and made them drunk in My wrath, and brought down their strength to earth.”

7 Let me recount the kindnesses of יהוה and the praises of יהוה, according to all that יהוה has done for us, and the great goodness toward the house of Yisra’ĕl, which He has done for them according to His compassion, and according to His many kindnesses.

8 And He said, “They are My people, children who do not act falsely.” And He became their Savior.

9 In all their distress He was distressed, and the Messenger of His Presence saved them. In His love and in His compassion He redeemed them, and He lifted them up and carried them all the days of old.

10 But they rebelled and grieved His Set-apart Spirit, so He turned against them as an enemy, and He fought against them.

11 Then He remembered the days of old, Mosheh, His people, “Where is He who brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of His flock? Where is He who put His Set-apart Spirit within him,

12 who led them by the right hand of Mosheh, with His comely arm, dividing the water before them to make for Himself an everlasting Name,

13 who led them through the deep? Like a horse in the wilderness they did not stumble.”

14 As a beast goes down into the valley, and the Spirit of יהוה causes him to rest, so You led Your people, to make Yourself a comely Name.

15 Look down from the heavens, and see from Your set-apart and comely dwelling. Where are Your ardor and Your might, the stirring of Your inward parts and Your compassion toward me? Are they withheld?

16 For You are our Father, though Aḇraham does not know us, and Yisra’ĕl does not recognize us. You, O יהוה, are our Father, our Redeemer – Your Name is from of old.

17 O יהוה, why do You make us stray from Your ways, and harden our heart from Your fear? Turn back, for the sake of Your servants, the tribes of Your inheritance.

18 For a little while Your set-apart people possessed it – our adversaries have trodden down Your set-apart place.

19 We have become like those over whom You never ruled – Your Name is not called on them!

64|1 Oh, that You would tear the heavens open, come down, that mountains shall shake before Your? –

2 as when fire burns twigs, as fire makes water boil – to make Your Name known to Your adversaries, so that nations tremble before You.

3 When You did awesome matters, which we did not expect, You came down, mountains did shake before You!

4 Since the beginning of the ages they have not heard nor perceived by the ear, nor has the eye seen any Elohim besides You, who acts for those who wait for Him.

5 You shall meet him who rejoices and does righteousness, who remembers You in Your ways. See, You were wroth when we sinned in them a long time. And should we be saved?

6 And all of us have become as one unclean, and all our righteousnesses are as soiled rags. And all of us fade like a leaf, and our crookednesses, like the wind, have taken us away.

7 And there is no one who calls on Your Name, who stirs himself up to take hold of You; for You have hidden Your face from us, and have consumed us because of our crookednesses.

8 And now, O יהוה, You are our Father. We are the clay, and You our potter. And we are all the work of Your hand.

9 Do not be wroth, O יהוה, nor remember crookedness forever. See, please look, all of us are Your people!

10 Your set-apart cities have become a wilderness, Tsiyon has become a wilderness, Yerushalayim a waste.

11 Our set-apart and comely House, where our fathers praised You, has been burned up with fire. And all that we treasured has become a ruin.

12 In view of all this, would You restrain Yourself, O יהוה? Would You keep silent and afflict us beyond measure?

2 SAMUEL 1:1 – 2:32

1| 1 And it came to be after the death of Sha’ul, when Dawiḏ had returned from smiting the Amalĕqites, that Dawiḏ remained two days in Tsiqlag̅.

2 And it came to be on the third day, that see, a man came out of the camp from Sha’ul with his garments torn and dust on his head. And it came to be, when he came to Dawiḏ, that he fell to the ground and did obeisance.

3 And Dawiḏ said to him, “From where do you come?” And he said to him, “I have escaped from the camp of Yisra’ĕl.”

4 And Dawiḏ said to him, “What was the matter? Please inform me.” And he said, “The people have fled from the battle, and also many of the people have fallen and are dead, and Sha’ul and Yehonathan his son are dead too.”

5 And Dawiḏ said to the young man who informed him, “How do you know that Sha’ul and Yehonathan his son are dead?”

6 And the young man who informed him said, “By chance I was on Mount Gilboa and saw Sha’ul leaning on his spear. And see, the chariots and horsemen followed hard after him.

7 “And when he looked behind him, he saw me and called to me, and I answered, ‘Here I am.’

8 “And he said to me, ‘Who are you?’ So I answered him, ‘I am an Amalĕqite.’

9 “And he said to me, ‘Please stand over me and put me to death, for agony has seized me, but my life is still in me.’

10 “So I stood beside him and put him to death, for I knew he would not live after he had fallen. And I took the diadem that was on his head and the bracelet that was on his arm, and have brought them here to my master.”

11 And Dawiḏ took hold of his own garments and tore them, and also all the men who were with him.

12 And they mourned and wept and fasted until evening for Sha’ul and for Yehonathan his son, and for the people of יהוה and for the house of Yisra’ĕl, because they had fallen by the sword.

13 Then Dawiḏ asked the young man who informed him, “Where are you from?” And he answered, “I am the son of a sojourner, an Amalĕqite.”

14 And Dawiḏ said to him, “How was it you were not afraid to stretch out your hand to destroy the anointed of יהוה?”

15 And Dawiḏ called one of the young men and said, “Draw near and fall on him!” And he smote him so that he died.

16 And Dawiḏ said to him, “Your blood is on your own head, for your own mouth has witnessed against you, saying, ‘I myself have put to death the anointed of יהוה.’ ”

17 Then Dawiḏ lamented with this lamentation over Sha’ul and over Yehonathan his son,

18 and he ordered “The Bow” to be taught to the children of Yehuḏah. See, it is written in the Book of Yashar:

19 “The splendour of Yisra’ĕl Is slain on your high places! How the mighty have fallen!

20 “Declare it not in Gath, Proclaim it not in the streets of Ashqelon, Lest the daughters of the Philistines rejoice, Lest the daughters of the uncircumcised exult.

21 “Mountains of Gilboa! No dew or rain be upon you, Nor fields of offerings. For there the shield of the mighty lay rejected, The shield of Sha’ul, not anointed with oil.

22 “From the blood of the slain, From the fat of the mighty, The bow of Yehonathan did not turn back, And the sword of Sha’ul did not return empty.

23 “Sha’ul and Yehonathan were beloved And pleasant in their lives, And in their death they were not parted. They were swifter than eagles, They were stronger than lions.

24 “Daughters of Yisra’ĕl – weep over Sha’ul, Who wrapped you in scarlet, with finery; Who decked your robes with ornaments of gold.

25 “How the mighty have fallen In the midst of the battle! Yehonathan was slain in your high places.

26 “I am distressed for you, my brother Yehonathan. You have been very pleasant to me. Your love to me was wondrous, Surpassing the love of women.

27 “How the mighty have fallen, And the weapons of battle perish!”

2| 1 And it came to be afterwards that Dawiḏ inquired of יהוה, saying, “Do I go up to any of the cities of Yehuḏah?” And יהוה said to him, “Go up.” And Dawiḏ said, “Where should I go up?” And He said, “To Ḥeḇron.”

2 And Dawiḏ went up there, as well as his two wives, Aḥino‛am the Yizre‛ĕlitess, and Aḇig̅ayil the widow of Naḇal the Karmelite.

3 And Dawiḏ brought up the men who were with him, each man with his household, and they dwelt in the cities of Ḥeḇron.

4 And the men of Yehuḏah came, and anointed Dawiḏ sovereign over the house of Yehuḏah there. They also reported to Dawiḏ, saying, “The men of Yaḇĕsh Gil‛aḏ are they who buried Sha’ul.”

5 Dawiḏ then sent messengers to the men of Yaḇĕsh Gil‛aḏ, and said to them, “You are blessed of יהוה, for you have shown this kindness to your master, to Sha’ul, that you buried him.

6 “And now, יהוה show kindness and truth to you, and I am also going to do you good, because you have done this deed.

7 “And now, let your hands be strengthened and be brave, for your master Sha’ul is dead, and also the house of Yehuḏah has anointed me sovereign over them.”

8 But Aḇnĕr son of Nĕr, commander of the army of Sha’ul, took Ishbosheth the son of Sha’ul, and brought him over to Maḥanayim,

9 and set him up to reign over Gil‛aḏ, and over the Ashĕrites, and over Yizre‛ĕl, and over Ephrayim, and over Binyamin, and over all Yisra’ĕl.

10 Ishbosheth, son of Sha’ul, was forty years old when he began to reign over Yisra’ĕl, and he reigned two years. Only the house of Yehuḏah followed Dawiḏ.

11 And the time that Dawiḏ was sovereign in Ḥeḇron over the house of Yehuḏah was seven years and six months.

12 And Aḇnĕr son of Nĕr, and the servants of Ishbosheth son of Sha’ul, went out from Maḥanayim to Giḇ‛on.

13 And Yo’aḇ son of Tseruyah, and the servants of Dawiḏ, went out and met them by the pool of Giḇ‛on. And they sat down, one on one side of the pool and the other on the other side of the pool.

14 And Aḇnĕr said to Yo’aḇ, “Let the young men now rise and compete before us.” And Yo’aḇ said, “Let them rise.”

15 And they rose and went over by number, twelve from Binyamin, followers of Ishbosheth son of Sha’ul, and twelve from the servants of Dawiḏ.

16 And each one grasped his opponent by the head and thrust his sword in his opponent’s side, and they fell down together. So that place was called the Field of Sharp Swords, which is in Giḇ‛on.

17 And the battle was fierce that day, and Aḇnĕr and the men of Yisra’ĕl were smitten before the servants of Dawiḏ.

18 And there were three sons of Tseruyah there, Yo’aḇ and Aḇishai and Asah’ĕl. And Asah’ĕl was light on his feet, as one of the gazelles in the field.

19 And Asah’ĕl pursued Aḇnĕr, and in going he did not turn aside to the right or to the left from following Aḇnĕr.

20 And Aḇnĕr looked behind him and said, “Are you Asah’ĕl?” And he answered, “I am.”

21 And Aḇnĕr said to him, “Turn aside to your right hand or to your left, and lay hold on one of the young men and take his armor for yourself.” But Asah’ĕl would not turn aside from following him.

22 And Aḇnĕr again said to Asah’ĕl, “Turn aside from following me. Why should I smite you to the ground? How then could I face your brother Yo’aḇ?”

23 But he refused to turn aside, and Aḇnĕr smote him with the blunt end of the spear in the stomach, so that the spear came out of his back. And he fell down there and died on the spot. And it came to be that as many as came to the place where Asah’ĕl fell down and died, stood still.

24 And Yo’aḇ and Aḇishai pursued Aḇnĕr. And the sun was going down and they came to the hill of Ammah, which overlooks Giyaḥ by the way to the Wilderness of Giḇ‛on.

25 And the children of Binyamin gathered together behind Aḇnĕr and became a single company, and took their stand on top of a hill.

26 And Aḇnĕr called to Yo’aḇ and said, “Should the sword devour forever? Do you not know that it is bitter in the latter end? And when are you going to say to the people to turn back from pursuing their brothers?”

27 And Yo’aḇ said, “As Elohim lives, if you had not spoken, then all the people would have given up pursuing their brothers only the next morning.”

28 Yo’aḇ then blew a ram’s horn, and all the people halted and pursued Yisra’ĕl no further, nor did they fight any more.

29 And Aḇnĕr and his men went on all that night through the desert plain, and passed over the Yardĕn, and went through all Bithron. And they came to Maḥanayim.

30 And Yo’aḇ turned back from pursuing Aḇnĕr. And when he had gathered all the people together, there were missing of Dawiḏ’s servants nineteen men and Asah’ĕl.

31 But the servants of Dawiḏ had smitten, of Binyamin and Aḇnĕr’s men, three hundred and sixty men who died.

32 And they brought Asah’ĕl and buried him in his father’s tomb, which was in Bĕyth Leḥem. And Yo’aḇ and his men went all night, and they came to Ḥeḇron at daybreak.

1 TIMOTHY 6:1-21

6|1 Let those who are servants under a yoke regard their own masters worthy of all respect, lest the Name of Elohim and His teaching be blasphemed.

2 And those who have believing masters, let them not disregard them because they are brothers, but rather serve them because they are believing and beloved ones, those receiving of the good service in return. Teach and urge these matters.

3 If anyone teaches differently and does not agree to the sound words, those of our Master יהושע Messiah, and to the teaching which is according to reverence,

4 he is puffed up, understanding none at all, but is sick about questionings and verbal battles from which come envy, strife, slander, wicked suspicions,

5 worthless disputes of men of corrupt minds and deprived of the truth, who think that reverence is a means of gain – withdraw from such.

6 But reverence with contentment is great gain.

7 For we brought naught into the world, and it is impossible to take any out.

8 When we have food and covering, we shall be satisfied with these.

9 But those wishing to be rich fall into trial and a snare, and into many foolish and injurious lusts which plunge men in ruin and destruction.

10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some, by longing for it, have strayed from the belief, and pierced themselves through with many pains.

11 But you, O man of Elohim, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, reverence, belief, love, endurance, meekness.

12 Fight the good fight of the belief, lay hold on everlasting life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession before many witnesses.

13 In the sight of Elohim who gives life to all, and of Messiah יהושע who witnessed the good confession before Pontius Pilate, I charge you:

14 that you guard the command spotlessly, blamelessly, until the appearing of our Master יהושע Messiah,

15 which in His own seasons He shall reveal – the blessed and only Ruler, the Sovereign of sovereigns and Master of masters,

16 who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or is able to see, to whom be respect and everlasting might. Amĕn.

17 Charge those who are rich in this present age not to be high-minded, nor to trust in the uncertainty of riches, but in the living Elohim, who gives us richly all for enjoyment,

18 to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous, ready to share,

19 storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, so that they lay hold on everlasting life.

20 O Timothy! Watch over that which has been entrusted to you, turning aside from the profane and empty babblings and contradictions of the falsely called ‘knowledge,’

21 which some, having professed it, have missed the goal concerning the belief. Favor be with you. Amĕn.
