EXODUS 7-11
7| 1 So יהוה said to Mosheh, “See, I have made you an elohim to Pharaoh, and Aharon your brother is your prophet.
2 “You shall speak all that I command you, and Aharon your brother shall speak to Pharaoh, to let the children of Yisra’ĕl go out of his land.
3 “But I am going to harden the heart of Pharaoh, and shall increase My signs and My wonders in the land of Mitsrayim.
4 “And Pharaoh is not going to listen to you, and I shall lay My hand on Mitsrayim, and bring My divisions and My people, the children of Yisra’ĕl, out of the land of Mitsrayim by great judgments.
5 “And the Mitsrites shall know that I am יהוה, when I stretch out My hand on Mitsrayim. And I shall bring the children of Yisra’ĕl out from among them.”
6 And Mosheh and Aharon did as יהוה commanded them, so they did.
7 Now Mosheh was eighty years old and Aharon eighty-three years old when they spoke to Pharaoh.
8 And יהוה spoke to Mosheh and to Aharon, saying,
9 “When Pharaoh speaks to you, saying, ‘Show a miracle for yourselves,’ then you shall say to Aharon, ‘Take your rod and throw it before Pharaoh, and let it become a serpent.’ ”
10 So Mosheh and Aharon went in to Pharaoh, and they did so, as יהוה commanded. And Aharon threw his rod before Pharaoh and before his servants, and it became a serpent.
11 But Pharaoh also called the wise men and the practisers of witchcraft. And they, the magicians of Mitsrayim, also did so with their magic.
12 And they, each one, threw down his rod, and they became serpents. But the rod of Aharon swallowed up their rods.
13 And Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, and he did not listen to them, as יהוה had said.
14 And יהוה said to Mosheh, “The heart of Pharaoh is hard, he refuses to let the people go.
15 “Go to Pharaoh in the morning, as he goes out to the water, and you shall stand by the river’s bank to meet him. And take in your hand the rod which was turned into a serpent.
16 “And you shall say to him, ‘יהוה the Elohim of the Heḇrews has sent me to you, saying, “Let My people go, so that they serve Me in the wilderness,” but see, until now you have not listened!
17 ‘Thus said יהוה, “By this you know that I am יהוה. See, I am striking the waters which are in the river with the rod that is in my hand, and they shall be turned to blood,
18 and the fish in the river shall die. And the river shall stink, and the Mitsrites shall find it impossible to drink the water of the river.” ’ ”
19 And יהוה spoke to Mosheh, “Say to Aharon, ‘Take your rod and stretch out your hand over the waters of Mitsrayim, over their streams, over their rivers, over their ponds, and over all their pools of water, that they become blood. And there shall be blood in all the land of Mitsrayim, both in wooden and in stone containers.’ ”
20 And Mosheh and Aharon did so, as יהוה commanded. And he lifted up the rod and struck the waters that were in the river, in the eyes of Pharaoh and in the eyes of his servants. And all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood.
21 And the fish that were in the river died, and the river stank, and the Mitsrites were unable to drink the water of the river. And the blood was in all the land of Mitsrayim.
22 And the magicians of Mitsrayim did the same with their magic. And the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he did not listen to them, as יהוה had said.
23 And Pharaoh turned and went into his house, and his heart was not moved by this either.
24 And all the Mitsrites dug all around the river for water to drink, for they were unable to drink the water of the river.
25 And seven days were completed after יהוה had struck the river.
8| 1 And יהוה spoke to Mosheh, “Go to Pharaoh and say to him, ‘Thus said יהוה, “Let My people go, so that they serve Me.
2 “But if you refuse to let them go, see, I am smiting all your border with frogs.
3 “And the river shall swarm with frogs, which shall go up and shall come into your house, and into your bedroom, and on your bed, and into the houses of your servants, and on your people, and into your ovens, and into your kneading bowls,
4 and the frogs shall come up on you and on your people and on all your servants.” ’ ”
5 And יהוה said to Mosheh, “Say to Aharon, ‘Stretch out your hand with your rod over the streams, over the rivers, and over the ponds, and cause frogs to come up on the land of Mitsrayim.’ ”
6 So Aharon stretched out his hand over the waters of Mitsrayim, and the frogs came up, and covered the land of Mitsrayim.
7 And the magicians did so with their magic, and brought up frogs on the land of Mitsrayim.
8 Pharaoh then called for Mosheh and Aharon, and said, “Pray to יהוה to take away the frogs from me and from my people, and I shall let the people go to slaughter to יהוה.”
9 And Mosheh said to Pharaoh, “Explain yourself to me: When am I to pray for you, and for your servants, and for your people, to destroy the frogs from you and your houses, and remain only in the river?”
10 So he said, “Tomorrow.” And he said, “Let it be according to your word, so that you know that there is no one like יהוה our Elohim.
11 “And the frogs shall turn aside from you, and from your houses, and from your servants, and from your people – they shall remain in the river only.”
12 And Mosheh and Aharon went out from Pharaoh. And Mosheh cried out to יהוה concerning the frogs which He had brought against Pharaoh.
13 And יהוה did according to the word of Mosheh. And the frogs died out of the houses, out of the courtyards, and out of the fields.
14 And they gathered them together in heaps, and the land stank.
15 And when Pharaoh saw that there was relief, he hardened his heart and did not listen to them, as יהוה had said.
16 And יהוה said to Mosheh, “Say to Aharon, ‘Stretch out your rod, and strike the dust of the land, so that it becomes gnats in all the land of Mitsrayim.’ ”
17 And they did so, and Aharon stretched out his hand with his rod and struck the dust of the earth, and it became gnats on man and beast. All the dust of the land became gnats in all the land of Mitsrayim.
18 And the magicians did similarly with their magic to bring forth gnats, but they were unable. And there were gnats on man and beast.
19 The magicians then said to Pharaoh, “This is the finger of Elohim!” But the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he did not listen to them, as יהוה had said.
20 And יהוה said to Mosheh, “Rise early in the morning and stand before Pharaoh as he comes out to the water, and say to him, ‘Thus said יהוה, “Let My people go, so that they serve Me.
21 “Or else, if you do not let My people go, see, I am sending swarms of flies on you and your servants, and on your people and into your houses. And the houses of the Mitsrites shall be filled with swarms of flies, and also the ground on which they stand.
22 “And in that day I shall separate the land of Goshen, in which My people dwell, that no swarms of flies shall be there, so that you know that I am יהוה in the midst of the land.
23 “And I shall put a distinction between My people and your people. Tomorrow this sign shall be.” ’ ”
24 And יהוה did so, and thick swarms of flies came into the house of Pharaoh, and into his servants’ houses, and into all the land of Mitsrayim, and the land was ruined because of the swarms of flies.
25 Pharaoh then called for Mosheh and Aharon, and said, “Go, slaughter to your Elohim in the land.”
26 And Mosheh said, “It is not right to do so, for we would be slaughtering the abomination of the Mitsrites to יהוה our Elohim. See, if we slaughter the abomination of the Mitsrites before their eyes, would they not stone us?
27 “Let us go three days’ journey into the wilderness, then we shall slaughter to יהוה our Elohim, as He commands us.”
28 And Pharaoh said, “I am letting you go, then you shall slaughter to יהוה your Elohim in the wilderness. Only, do not go very far away! Pray for me.”
29 And Mosheh said, “See, when I leave you I shall pray to יהוה, and tomorrow the swarms of flies shall depart from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people. But do not let Pharaoh again deceive, not to let the people go to slaughter to יהוה.”
30 And Mosheh went out from Pharaoh and prayed to יהוה.
31 And יהוה did according to the word of Mosheh and removed the swarms of flies from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people. Not one remained.
32 But Pharaoh hardened his heart at this time too, and did not let the people go.
9| 1 And יהוה said to Mosheh, “Go in to Pharaoh and speak to him, ‘Thus said יהוה Elohim of the Heḇrews, “Let My people go, so that they serve Me.
2 “For if you refuse to let them go, and still hold them,
3 see, the hand of יהוה is on your livestock in the field, on the horses, on the donkeys, on the camels, on the cattle, and on the sheep – a very grievous pestilence.
4 “And יהוה shall separate between the livestock of Yisra’ĕl and the livestock of Mitsrayim, and let no matter die of all that belongs to the children of Yisra’ĕl.” ’ ”
5 And יהוה set an appointed time, saying, “Tomorrow יהוה is going to do this word in the land.”
6 And יהוה did this word on the next day, and all the livestock of Mitsrayim died, but of the livestock of the children of Yisra’ĕl, not one died.
7 Then Pharaoh sent, and see, not even one of the livestock of the Yisra’ĕlites was dead. But the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he did not let the people go.
8 And יהוה said to Mosheh and Aharon, “Fill your hands with ashes from a furnace and let Mosheh scatter it toward the heavens before the eyes of Pharaoh.
9 “And it shall become fine dust in all the land of Mitsrayim, and it shall cause boils that break out in sores on man and beast in all the land of Mitsrayim.”
10 So they took ashes from the furnace and stood before Pharaoh, and Mosheh scattered them toward the heavens. And they caused boils, breaking out in sores on man and beast.
11 And the magicians were unable to stand before Mosheh because of the boils, for the boils were on the magicians and on all the Mitsrites.
12 But יהוה hardened the heart of Pharaoh, and he did not listen to them, as יהוה had said to Mosheh.
13 And יהוה said to Mosheh, “Rise early in the morning and stand before Pharaoh, and say to him, ‘Thus said יהוה Elohim of the Heḇrews, “Let My people go, so that they serve Me,
14 for at this time I am sending all My plagues unto your heart, and on your servants and on your people, so that you know that there is no one like Me in all the earth.
15 “Now if I had stretched out My hand and struck you and your people with pestilence, then you would have been cut off from the earth.
16 “And for this reason I have raised you up, in order to show you My power, and in order to declare My Name in all the earth.
17 “You still exalt yourself against My people in that you do not let them go!
18 “See, tomorrow about this time I am causing very heavy hail to rain down, such as has not been in Mitsrayim, from the day of its founding until now.
19 “And now send, bring your livestock to safety, and all that you have in the field, for the hail shall come down on every man and every beast which is found in the field and is not brought home, and they shall die.” ’ ”
20 Those among the servants of Pharaoh who feared the word of יהוה made their servants and livestock flee to the houses.
21 But those who did not set their heart on the word of יהוה left their servants and livestock in the field.
22 Then יהוה said to Mosheh, “Stretch out your hand toward the heavens, and let there be hail in all the land of Mitsrayim – on man, and on beast, and on every plant of the field, throughout the land of Mitsrayim.”
23 Then Mosheh stretched out his rod toward the heavens. And יהוה sent thunder and hail, and fire came down to the earth. And יהוה rained hail on the land of Mitsrayim.
24 Thus there came to be hail, and fire flashing continually in the midst of the hail, very heavy, such as had not been in all the land of Mitsrayim since it became a nation.
25 And the hail smote in all the land of Mitsrayim all that was in the field, both man and beast. And the hail smote every plant of the field and broke every tree of the field.
26 Only in the land of Goshen, where the children of Yisra’ĕl were, there was no hail.
27 Pharaoh then sent and called for Mosheh and for Aharon, and said to them, “I have sinned this time. יהוה is righteous, and my people and I are wrong.
28 “Pray to יהוה, for there has been enough of the thunder and hail of Elohim. And I am letting you go, so that you stay no longer.”
29 And Mosheh said to him, “As soon as I go out of the city, let me spread out my hands to יהוה, let the thunder cease and the hail be no more, so that you know that the earth belongs to יהוה.
30 “But as for you and your servants, I know that you do not yet fear before יהוה Elohim.”
31 And the flax and the barley were smitten, for the barley was in the head and the flax was in bud.
32 But the wheat and the spelt were not smitten, for they were late crops.
33 And Mosheh went out of the city from Pharaoh and spread out his hands to יהוה, and the thunder and the hail ceased, and the rain was not poured on the earth.
34 And Pharaoh saw that the rain, and the hail, and the thunder had ceased, yet he sinned again and he hardened his heart, he and his servants.
35 And the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he did not let the children of Yisra’ĕl go, as יהוה had said through Mosheh.
10| 1 And יהוה said to Mosheh, “Go in to Pharaoh, for I have hardened his heart and the hearts of his servants, so that I show these signs of Mine before him,
2 and that you relate in the hearing of your son and your son’s son what I have done in Mitsrayim, and My signs which I have done among them. And you shall know that I am יהוה.”
3 And Mosheh and Aharon came in to Pharaoh and said to him, “Thus said יהוה Elohim of the Heḇrews, ‘Till when shall you refuse to humble yourself before Me? Let My people go, so that they serve Me.
4 ‘Or else, if you refuse to let My people go, see, tomorrow I am bringing locusts within your borders.
5 ‘And they shall cover the surface of the land, so that no one is able to see the land. And they shall eat the rest of what has escaped, which remains to you from the hail, and they shall eat every tree which grows up for you out of the field.
6 ‘And they shall fill your houses, and the houses of all your servants, and the houses of all the Mitsrites, which neither your fathers nor your fathers’ fathers have seen, since the day that they were on the earth to this day.’ ” Then he turned and went out from Pharaoh.
7 And Pharaoh’s servants said to him, “Till when would this one be a snare to us? Let the men go, so that they serve יהוה their Elohim. Do you not yet know that Mitsrayim is destroyed?”
8 And Mosheh and Aharon were brought back to Pharaoh, and he said to them, “Go, serve יהוה your Elohim. Who are the ones that are going?”
9 And Mosheh said, “We are going with our young and our old, with our sons and our daughters, with our flocks and our herds we are going, for we have a festival to יהוה.”
10 And he said to them, “Let יהוה be with you as I let you and your little ones go! Watch, for evil is before your face!
11 “Not so! You men go now, and serve יהוה, for that is what you desired.” And they were driven out from the presence of Pharaoh.
12 And יהוה said to Mosheh, “Stretch out your hand over the land of Mitsrayim for the locusts to come upon the land of Mitsrayim, and eat every plant of the land – all that the hail has left.”
13 And Mosheh stretched out his rod over the land of Mitsrayim, and יהוה brought an east wind on the land all that day and all that night. Morning came, and the east wind brought the locusts.
14 And the locusts went up over all the land of Mitsrayim and settled within all the borders of Mitsrayim, very grievous. There had never been locusts like them before, nor would there again be like them.
15 And they covered the surface of all the land, so that the land was darkened. And they ate every plant of the land and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left, and no greenness was left on the trees or on the plants of the field, in all the land of Mitsrayim.
16 Pharaoh then called for Mosheh and Aharon in haste, and said, “I have sinned against יהוה your Elohim and against you.
17 “And now, please forgive my sin only this once, and pray to יהוה your Elohim, that He would only turn away this death from me.”
18 And he went out from Pharaoh and prayed to יהוה.
19 And יהוה turned a very strong west wind, which took the locusts away and blew them into the Sea of Reeds. Not one locust was left within all the border of Mitsrayim.
20 However, יהוה hardened the heart of Pharaoh, and he did not let the children of Yisra’ĕl go.
21 And יהוה said to Mosheh, “Stretch out your hand toward the heavens, and let there be darkness over the land of Mitsrayim, even a darkness which is felt.”
22 And Mosheh stretched out his hand toward the heavens, and there was thick darkness in all the land of Mitsrayim for three days.
23 They did not see one another, nor did anyone rise from his place for three days, while all the children of Yisra’ĕl had light in their dwellings.
24 And Pharaoh called to Mosheh and said, “Go, serve יהוה, only leave your flocks and your herds behind. Let your little ones go with you too.”
25 But Mosheh said, “You yourself are to provide us with slaughterings and burnt offerings, to prepare for יהוה our Elohim.
26 “And our livestock are to go with us too, not a hoof is to be left behind, for we have to take some of them to serve יהוה our Elohim, and we ourselves do not know with what we are to serve יהוה until we come there.”
27 However, יהוה hardened the heart of Pharaoh, and he would not let them go.
28 And Pharaoh said to him, “Get away from me! Watch yourself and see my face no more, for in the day you see my face you die!”
29 And Mosheh said, “You have spoken rightly – never again do I see your face!”
11| 1 And יהוה said to Mosheh, “I am bringing yet one more plague on Pharaoh and on Mitsrayim. After that he is going to let you go from here. When he lets you go, he shall drive you out from here altogether.
2 “Speak now in the hearing of the people, and let every man ask from his neighbour and every woman from her neighbour, objects of silver and objects of gold.”
3 And יהוה gave the people favour in the eyes of the Mitsrites. And the man Mosheh was very great in the land of Mitsrayim, in the eyes of Pharaoh’s servants and in the eyes of the people.
4 And Mosheh said, “Thus said יהוה, ‘About midnight I am going out into the midst of Mitsrayim,
5 and all the first-born in the land of Mitsrayim shall die, from the first-born of Pharaoh who sits on his throne, even to the first-born of the female servant who is behind the handmill, and all the first-born of cattle.
6 ‘And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Mitsrayim, such as has never been or ever be again.
7 ‘But against any of the children of Yisra’ĕl no dog shall move its tongue, against man or against beast, so that you know that יהוה makes distinction between Mitsrayim and Yisra’ĕl.’
8 “And all these servants of yours shall come down to me and bow down to me, saying, ‘Get out, you and all the people at your feet!’ And after that I shall go out.” And he went out from Pharaoh in great displeasure.
9 But יהוה said to Mosheh, “Pharaoh is not going to listen to you, in order to multiply My wonders in the land of Mitsrayim.”
10 And Mosheh and Aharon did all these wonders before Pharaoh, however, יהוה hardened the heart of Pharaoh, and he did not let the children of Yisra’ĕl go out of his land.
JEREMIAH 23
23| 1 “Woe to the shepherds destroying and scattering the sheep of My pasture!”a declares יהוה.
2 Therefore thus said יהוה Elohim of Yisra’ĕl against the shepherds who feed My people, “You have scattered My flock, driven them away, and have not tended them. See, I am punishing you for the evil of your deeds,” declares יהוה.
3 “Therefore I shall gather the remnant of My flock out of all the lands where I have driven them, and shall bring them back to their fold. And they shall bear and increase.
4 “And I shall raise up shepherds over them, and they shall feed them.a And they shall fear no more, nor be discouraged, nor shall they be lacking,” declares יהוה.
5 “See, the days are coming,” declares יהוה, “when I shall raise for Dawiḏ a Branch of righteousness, and a Sovereign shall reign and act wisely, and shall do right-ruling and righteousness in the earth.
6 “In His days Yehuḏah shall be saved, and Yisra’ĕl dwell safely. And this is His Name whereby He shall be called: ‘יהוה our Righteousness.’
7 “Therefore, see, the days are coming,” declares יהוה, “when they shall say no more, ‘As יהוה lives who brought up the children of Yisra’ĕl out of the land of Mitsrayim,’
8 but, ‘As יהוה lives who brought up and led the seed of the house of Yisra’ĕl out of the land of the north and from all the lands where I had driven them.’ And they shall dwell on their own soil.”
9 My heart within me is broken because of the prophets; all my bones shake. I am like a drunken man, and like a man overcome by wine, because of יהוה, and because of His set-apart words.
10 For the land is filled with adulterers; for the land mourns because of a curse. The pastures of the wilderness are dried up. And their course is evil, and their might is not right.
11 “For both prophet and priest have become defiled. Even in My house I have found their evil,” declares יהוה.
12 “Therefore their way is to them like slippery ways in the dark. They are driven on and they shall fall in them. For I bring evil on them, the year of their punishment,” declares יהוה.
13 “And I have seen folly in the prophets of Shomeron: they prophesied by Ba‛al and led My people Yisra’ĕl astray.
14 “And among the prophets of Yerushalayim I have seen a horrible matter: committing adultery and walking in falsehood. And they strengthen the hands of evil ones, so that no one turns back from his evil. All of them are like Seḏom to Me, and her inhabitants like Amorah.
15 “Therefore thus said יהוה of hosts concerning the prophets, ‘See, I am making them eat wormwood, and shall make them drink poisoned water. For defilement has gone out into all the land from the prophets of Yerushalayim.’ ”
16 Thus said יהוה of hosts, “Do not listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you, they lead you astray. They speak a vision of their own heart, not from the mouth of יהוה.
17 “They keep on saying to those who despise Me, ‘יהוה has said you shall have peace.’ And to all who walk according to the stubbornness of their own heart they say, ‘No evil comes upon you.’ ”
18 For who has stood in the counsel of יהוה, and has seen and heard His word? Who has listened to His word and obeyed it?
19 See, a storm of יהוה shall go forth in a rage, a whirling storm! It whirls on the head of the wrong.
20 The displeasure of יהוה shall not turn back until He has done and established the purposes of His heart. In the latter days you shall understand it perfectly.a
21 “I did not send these prophets, yet they ran. I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied.a
22 “But if they had stood in My counsel, then they would have let My people hear My Words, and they would have turned them from their evil way and from the evil of their deeds.
23 “Am I an Elohim close by,” declares יהוה, “and not an Elohim afar off?
24 “If anyone is hidden in secret places, would I not see him?” declares יהוה. “Do I not fill the heavens and earth?” declares יהוה.
25 “I have heard what the prophets have said who prophesy falsehood in My Name, saying, ‘I have dreamed, I have dreamed!’
26 “Till when shall it be in the heart of the prophets? – the prophets of falsehood and prophets of the deceit of their own heart,
27 who try to make My people forget My Name by their dreams which everyone relates to his neighbour, as their fathers forgot My Name for Ba‛al.
28 “The prophet who has a dream, let him relate the dream, and he who has My Word, let him speak My Word in truth. What is the chaff to the wheat?” declares יהוה.
29 “Is not My Word like a fire?” declares יהוה, “and like a hammer that shatters a rock?
30 “Therefore see, I am against the prophets,” declares יהוה, “who steal My Words every one from his neighbour.
31 “See, I am against the prophets,” declares יהוה, “who use their tongues and say, ‘He declares.’
32 “See, I am against those who prophesy false dreams,” declares יהוה, “and relate them, and lead My people astray by their falsehoods and by their reckless boasting. But I Myself did not send them nor have I commanded them. And they do not profit this people at all,” declares יהוה.
33 “And when these people or the prophet or the priest ask you, saying, ‘What is the message of יהוה?’ then you shall say to them, ‘What message?’ I shall forsake you,” declares יהוה.
34 “As for the prophet and the priest and the people who say, ‘The message of יהוה,’ I shall punish that man and his house.
35 “This is what each one says to his neighbour, and each one to his brother, ‘What has יהוה answered?’ and, ‘What has יהוה spoken?’
36 “But the message of יהוה you no longer remember! For every man’s message is his own word, for you have changed the Words of the living Elohim, יהוה of hosts, our Elohim!
37 “This is what you say to the prophet, ‘What has יהוה answered you?’ and, ‘What has יהוה spoken?’
38 “But since you say, ‘The message of יהוה!’ therefore thus said יהוה, ‘Because you say this word, “The message of יהוה!” and I have sent to you, saying, “Do not say, ‘The message of יהוה!’ ”
39 therefore see, I, I shall utterly forget you and cast you away from My presence, along with the city that I gave you and your fathers.
40 ‘And I shall put an everlasting reproach on you, and an everlasting shame that is not forgotten.’ ”
2 SAMUEL 22
22| 1 Then Dawiḏ spoke to יהוה the words of this song, on the day when יהוה had delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Sha’ul.
2 And he said, “יהוה is my rock and my stronghold and my deliverer.
3 “My Elohim is my rock, I take refuge in Him, My shield and the horn of my deliverance, My high tower and my refuge. My Saviour, You save me from violence.
4 “I call on יהוה, the One to be praised, And I am saved from my enemies.
5 “For the waves of death surrounded me, Floods of Beliya‛al made me afraid,
6 “The cords of the grave were all around me; The snares of death were before me.
7 “In my distress I called upon יהוה, And to my Elohim I cried. And from His Hĕḵal He heard my voice, And my cry was in His ears.
8 “And the earth shook and trembled, The foundations of the heavens were troubled, Because He was wroth.
9 “Smoke went up from His nostrils, And devouring fire from His mouth; Coals were kindled by it.
10 “And He bowed the heavens and came down, And thick darkness was under His feet.
11 “And He rode upon a keruḇ, and flew, And was seen upon the wings of the wind.
12 “And He put darkness around Him as booths, Darkness of waters, thick clouds.
13 “From the brightness before Him Coals of fire were kindled.
14 “יהוה thundered from the heavens, And the Most High sent forth His voice.
15 “And He sent out arrows and scattered them, Lightning, and confused them.
16 “And the channels of the sea were seen, The foundations of the world were uncovered At the rebuke of יהוה, At the blast of the breath of His nostrils.
17 “He sent from above, He took me, He drew me out of many waters.
18 “He delivered me from my strong enemy, From those hating me, For they were stronger than I.
19 “They confronted me in the day of my calamity, But יהוה was my support.
20 “And He brought me out into a large place, He delivered me for He delighted in me.
21 “יהוה rewarded me according to my righteousness; According to the cleanness of my hands He repaid me.
22 “For I have guarded the ways of יהוה, And have not acted wrongly against my Elohim.
23 “For all His right-rulings are before me; As for His laws, I do not turn from them.
24 “And I am perfect before Him, And I guard myself from my crookedness.
25 “And יהוה repays me according to my righteousness, According to my cleanness before His eyes.
26 “With the kind You show Yourself kind, With the perfect one You show Yourself perfect,
27 “With the clean You show Yourself clean, And with the crooked You show Yourself twisted.
28 “For You save the humble people, But Your eyes are on the haughty to bring them low.
29 “For You are my lamp, O יהוה, And יהוה makes my darkness light.
30 “For with You I run against a band, With my Elohim I leap over a wall.
31 “The Ěl – His way is perfect; The Word of יהוה is proven; He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.
32 “For who is Ěl, besides יהוה? And who is a rock, besides our Elohim?
33 “Ěl is my mighty stronghold, And He makes my way perfect,
34 “Making my feet like the feet of deer, And sets me on my high places,
35 “Teaching my hands for battle, So that my arms bend a bow of bronze.
36 “And You give me the shield of Your deliverance, And Your lowliness makes me great.
37 “You enlarge my step under me, So that my feet shall not slip.
38 “I pursue my enemies and destroy them, And I do not turn back till they are destroyed.
39 “And I destroy them and crush them, So that they do not rise, And fall under my feet.
40 “And You gird me with strength for battle, You cause my adversaries to bow under me.
41 “And You make my enemies turn their backs, Those hating me, and I cut them off.
42 “They look but there is no saviour, Unto יהוה, but He shall not answer them.
43 “And I beat them as dust of the earth, I beat them small as dirt in the streets – I spread them out.
44 “And You deliver me from the strivings of my people, You safeguard me as the head of the nations; A people I have not known serve me.
45 “Sons of the foreigner submit to me, As soon as they hear they obey me.
46 “Sons of the foreigner fade away, And gird themselves from their strongholds.
47 “יהוה lives! And blessed is my Rock! And exalted is my Elohim, The Rock of my deliverance,
48 “Ěl who avenges me, And bringing peoples down under me,
49 “And bringing me out from my enemies; You raise me up above those rising up against me; You deliver me from a man of violence.
50 “Therefore I give thanks to You, O יהוה, among nations, And I sing praise to Your Name.
51 “A tower of deliverance is He to His sovereign, And showing kindness to His anointed, To Dawiḏ and his seed, forever.”
HEBREWS 1-3
1| 1 Elohim, having of old spoken in many portions and many ways to the fathers by the prophets,
2 has in these last days spoken to us by the Son, whom He has appointed heir of all, through whom also He made the ages,
3 who being the brightness of the esteem and the exact representation of His substance, and sustaining all by the word of His power, having made a cleansing of our sins through Himself, sat down at the right hand of the Greatness on high,
4 having become so much better than the messengers, as He has inherited a more excellent Name than them.
5 For to which of the messengers did He ever say, “You are My Son, today I have brought You forth”?a And again, “I shall be to Him a Father, and He shall be to Me a Son”?b
6 And when He again brings the first-born into the world, He says, “Let all the messengers of Elohim do reverence to Him.”
7 And of the messengers indeed He says, “… who is making His messengers spirits and His servants a flame of fire.”
8 But to the Son He says, “Your throne, O Elohim, is forever and ever, a sceptre of straightness is the sceptre of Your reign.
9 “You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness.Because of this, Elohim, Your Elohim, has anointed You with the oil of gladness more than Your companions.”
10 And, “You, Master, did found the earth in the beginning, and the heavens are the work of Your hands.
11 “They shall perish, but You remain. And they shall all grow old like a garment,
12 and like a mantle You shall fold them up, and they shall be changed. But You are the same, and Your years shall not fail.”
13 And to which of the messengers did He ever say, “Sit at My right hand, until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet”?
14 Are they not all serving spirits sent out to attend those who are about to inherit deliverance?
2| 1 Because of this we have to pay more attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away.
2 For if the word spoken through messengers proved to be firm, and every transgression and disobedience received a right reward,
3 how shall we escape if we neglect so great a deliverance, which first began to be spoken by the Master, and was confirmed to us by those that heard,
4 Elohim also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Set-apart Spirit, distributed according to His own desire?
5 For it is not to messengers that He has subjected the world to come, concerning which we speak.
6 But somewhere one has witnessed, saying, “What is man that You remember him, or the son of man that You look after him?
7 “You have made him a little lower than the messengers.a You have crowned him with esteem and respect, and set him over the works of Your hands.
8 “You have put all in subjection under his feet.” For in that He put all in subjection under him, He left none that is not subjected to him. But now we do not yet see all subjected to him.
9 But we do see Him who was made for a little while lower than the messengers, יהושע, because of the suffering of death crowned with esteem and respect, that by the favour of Elohim He should taste death for everyone.
10 For it was fitting for Him, because of whom all are and through whom all are, in bringing many sons to esteem, to make the Princely Leader of their deliverance perfect through sufferings.
11 For both He who sets apart and those who are being set apart are all of One, for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brothers,
12 saying, “I shall announce Your Name to My brothers, in the midst of the congregation I shall sing praise to You.”
13 And again, “I shall put My trust in Him.” And again, “See, I and the children whom Elohim gave Me.”
14 Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself similarly shared in the same, so that by means of His death He might destroy him having the power of death, that is, the devil,
15 and deliver those who throughout life were held in slavery by fear of death.
16 For, doubtless, He does not take hold of messengers, but He does take hold of the seed of Aḇraham.
17 So in every way He had to be made like His brothers, in order to become a compassionate and trustworthy High Priest in matters related to Elohim, to make atonement for the sins of the people.
18 For in what He had suffered, Himself being tried, He is able to help those who are tried.
3| 1 Therefore, set-apart brothers, partakers of the heavenly calling, closely consider the Emissary and High Priest of our confession, Messiah יהושע,
2 who was trustworthy to Him who appointed Him, as also Mosheh in all His house.
3 For this One has been deemed worthy of more esteem than Mosheh, as much as He who built the house enjoys more respect than the house.
4 For every house is built by someone, but He who built all is Elohim.
5 And Mosheh indeed was trustworthy in all His house as a servant, for a witness of what would be spoken later,
6 but Messiah as a Son over His own house, whose house we are if we hold fast the boldness and the boasting of the expectation firm to the end.
7 Therefore, as the Set-apart Spirit says, “Today, if you hear His voice,
8 do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, in the day of trial in the wilderness,
9 where your fathers tried Me, proved Me, and saw My works forty years.
10 “Therefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, ‘They always go astray in their heart, and they have not known My ways.’
11 “As I swore in My wrath, ‘If they shall enter into My rest…’ ”a
12 Look out, brothers, lest there be in any of you a wicked heart of unbelief in falling away from the living Elohim,
13 but encourage one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened by the deceivableness of sin.
14 For we have become partakers of Messiah if we hold fast the beginning of our trust firm to the end,
15 while it is said, “Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”
16 For who, having heard, rebelled? Was it not all who came out of Mitsrayim, led by Mosheh?
17 And with whom was He grieved forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose corpses fell in the wilderness?
18 And to whom did He swear that they would not enter into His rest, but to those who did not obey?
19 So we see that they were unable to enter in because of unbelief.
Psalms 74-75
74| 1 O Elohim, why do You forever reject us? Why does Your displeasure smoke Against the sheep of Your pasture?
2 Remember Your congregation. You did purchase of old, The tribe of Your inheritance. You did redeem, This Mount Tsiyon where You have dwelt.
3 Lift up Your steps to the endless ruins; The enemy has done all evil in the set-apart placea.
4 Your adversaries have roared In the midst of Your meeting places; They have set up their own signs as signs.
5 It seems as if one had lifted up Axes among the thick trees.
6 And now all its carved work, They have broken down with axe and hammer.
7 They have set fire to Your set-apart place, They have profaned the dwelling place of Your Name to the ground.
8 They said in their hearts, “Let us suppress them altogether.” They burned all the meeting places of Ěl in the land.
9 We do not see our signs, There is no longer a prophet, Nor any among us who knows how long.
10 O Elohim, how long would the adversary reproach? Would the enemy despise Your Name forever?
11 Why do You hold back Your hand, even Your right hand? From the midst of Your bosom – end it!
12 For Elohim is my Sovereign from of old, Working deliverance in the midst of the earth.
13 You divided the sea by Your might; You broke the heads of the sea serpents in the waters.
14 You broke the heads of Liwiathan in pieces, You made him food for the people Living in the wilderness.
15 You did cleave open the fountain and the flood, You did dry up mighty rivers.
16 The day is Yours, the night is Yours too, You have established the light and the sun.
17 You have set all the borders of the earth, You have made summer and winter.
18 Remember this: the enemy has reproached יהוה, And a foolish people has despised Your Name.
19 Do not give the being of Your turtledove to the wild beast! Do not forget the life of Your afflicted ones forever.
20 Look to the covenant, For the dark places of the earth are filled With haunts of violence.
21 Let not the crushed one return ashamed! Let the poor and needy praise Your Name.
22 Arise, O Elohim, plead Your own cause, Remember how the foolish man reproaches You daily.
23 Do not forget the voice of Your enemies, The uproar of those rising up against You increases continually.
75| 1 We shall give thanks to You, O Elohim, we shall give thanks! And Your Name is near! Your wonders shall be declared!
2 “When I seize the appointed time, It is I who judge in uprightness.
3 “The earth and all its inhabitants are melted; It is I who set its columns firm. Selah.
4 “I said to the boasters, ‘Do not boast,’ And to the wrong, ‘Do not lift up the horn.
5 “Do not lift up your horn on high (You speak with a stiff neck).’ ”
6 For exaltations are neither from the east, Nor from the west nor from the wilderness.
7 But Elohim is the Judge – He puts down one, And exalts another.
8 For a cup is in the hand of יהוה, And the wine shall foam; It is filled with a mixture, And He pours it out. All the wrong of the earth drink, Draining it to the dregs.
9 But I, I declare forever, I sing praises to the Elohim of Ya‛aqoḇ.
10 “And all the horns of the wrong I cut off; The horns of the righteous are lifted up.”
Sirach 14-15 (RH CHARLES)
14| 1 BLESSED is the man that has not slipped with his mouth, and is not pricked with the multitude of sins.
2 ‘Blessed is he whose conscience has not condemned him, and who is not fallen from his hope in YAHUAH.
3 Riches are not comely for him who is ungenerous: and what should an envious man do with money?
4 ‘He that gathers by defrauding his own soul gathers for others, that shall spend his goods riotously.
5 ‘He that is evil to himself, to whom will he be good? he shall not take pleasure in his goods.
6 ‘There is none worse than he that envies himself; and this is a recompense of his wickedness.
7 ‘And if he does good, he does it unwillingly; and at the last he will declare his wickedness.
8 ‘The envious man has a wicked eye; he turns away his face, and despises men.
9 ‘A covetous man’s eye is not satisfied with his portion; and the iniquity of the wicked dries up his soul.
10 A wicked eye envies his bread, and he is ungenerous at his table.
11 ‘My son, according to your ability do good to yourself, and give YAHUAH his due offering.
12 ‘Remember that death will not be long in coming, and that the covenant of She’ol is not showed unto you.
13 ‘Do good unto your friend before you die, and according to your ability stretch out your hand and give to him.
14 ‘Defraud not yourself of the good day, and let not the part of a good desire overpass you.
15 ‘Shall you not leave your travails unto another? and your labours to be divided by lot?
16 ‘Give, and take, and sanctify your soul; for there is no seeking of dainties in She’ol.
17 ‘All flesh waxes old as a garment: for the covenant from the beginning is, You shall die the death.
18 ‘As of the green leaves on a thick tree, some fall, and some grow; so is the generation of flesh and blood, one comes to an end, and another is born.
19 ‘Every work rots and consumes away, and the worker thereof shall go withal.
20 ‘Blessed is the man that meditates good things in wisdom, and that reasons of holy things by his understanding.
21 ‘He that considers her ways in his heart shall also have understanding in her secrets.
22 ‘Go after her as one that traces, and lie in wait in her ways.
23 ‘He that pries in at her windows shall also hearken at her doors.
24 ‘He that lodges near her house shall also fasten a pin in her walls.
25 ‘He shall pitch his tent nigh unto her, and shall lodge in a lodging where good things are.
26 ‘He shall set his children under her shelter, and shall lodge under her branches.
27 ‘By her he shall be covered from heat, and in her glory shall he dwell.
15| 1 HE that fears YAHUAH will do good, and he that has the knowledge of the Torah shall obtain her.
2 ‘And as a mother shall she meet him, and receive him as a woman married of a virgin.
3 ‘With the bread of understanding shall she feed him, and give him the water of wisdom to drink.
4 ‘He shall be stayed upon her, and shall not be moved; and shall rely upon her, and shall not be confounded.
5 ‘She shall exalt him above his neighbours, and in the midst of the assembly shall she open his mouth.
6 ‘He shall find joy and a crown of gladness, and she shall cause him to inherit an everlasting name.
7 ‘But foolish men shall not attain unto her, and sinners shall not see her.
8 ‘For she is far from pride, and men that are liars cannot remember her.
9 ‘Praise is not seemly in the mouth of a sinner, for it was not sent him of YAHUAH.
10 For praise shall be uttered in wisdom, and YAHUAH will prosper it.
11 ‘Say not, It is through YAHUAH that I fell away: for you ought not to do the things that he hates.
12 ‘Say not, He has caused me to err: for he has no need of the sinful man.
13 ‘YAHUAH hates all abomination; and they that fear ELOHIYM love it not.
14 ‘He himself made man from the beginning, and left him in the hand of his counsel;
15 ‘If you will, to guard the commandments, and to perform acceptable faithfulness.
16 ‘He has set fire and water before you: stretch forth your hand unto whether you will.
17 ‘Before man is life and death; and whether him likes shall be given him.
18 ‘For the wisdom of YAHUAH is great, and he is mighty in power, and beholds all things:
19 ‘And his eyes are upon them that fear him, and he knows every work of man.
20 ‘He has commanded no man to do wickedly, neither has he given any man license to sin.
