Tassels, Commandment Stones, & the Throne of God

Is it possible for all of these seemingly different items to be intimately connected?

Let’s take a look together…

In the book of Numbers, also known as Bamidbar, or in the Wilderness, we see a peculiar commandment given to the peculiar, called out, chosen people of God.

This instruction revolves around tassels or fringes found on the corner of the garment with a blue cord throughout. These tassels are known in Hebrew as tzitzit or tsitsiyot.

““Speak to the children of Israel: Tell them to make tassels on the corners of their garments throughout their generations, and to put a blue thread in the tassels of the corners.
And you shall have the tassel, that you may look upon it and remember all the commandments of the LORD and do them, and that you may not follow the harlotry to which your own heart and your own eyes are inclined, and that you may remember and do all My commandments, and be holy for your God.
I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: I am the LORD your God.”” – {Numbers 15:38-41}

The question is, why is there a blue cord? What is significant about the blue thread that is required to bind these fringes together on the garments of God’s people?

In Exodus 24, we find a small clue to that answer; the stone, described in detail, found at the feet of the Almighty God is actually described as sapphire, blue, in color! Then, just two verses later we see the LORD giving Moses the commandments… on stone.

Is it possible that God provided the very same stone, the blue sapphire found at His Feet, to Moses with the written instructions?

And there was under His feet as it were a paved work of sapphire stone, and it was like the very heavens in its clarity.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Come up to Me on the mountain and be there; and I will give you tablets of stone, and the law and commandments which I have written, that you may teach them.”” – {Exodus 24:10,12}

The most common view of the commandment tablets are pale, grey rocks, due to popular culture, movies, and artwork. However, sapphire is also a stone, a beautiful and precious stone, one even linked to the set-apart and Holy throne of the Most High God!

And above the expanse over their heads there was the likeness of a throne, in appearance like sapphire; and seated above the likeness of a throne was a likeness with a human appearance. – {Ezekiel 1:26}

Do you think it be a stretch to say these tablets were sapphire and blue in color? We will let you be the judge, discerning from the canonized Scripture. However, in a non-canonical book, the book of Jubilees, we find the following;

Come up to me on the Mount, and I will give you two sapphire stones of the Torah and of the commandment, which I have written, that you may teach them. – {Jubilees 1:2}

If you remember, the specific instruction surrounding the tassels has the fringes bound with a blue cord. This command is to cause us and help us remember all of His commandments or instructions, known as Torah.

Could it be that the Almighty God gave us the thread of blue on the tassels to help remind us of the blue commandment stones, keeping the loving instructions that come from the very throne of God on our hearts and minds at all times?

Coincidence? No such thing! Halleluyah!

As for me and My House, we will serve the LORD!
