Genesis 5:1 – 8:22
5 | 1 This is the book of the genealogy of Aḏam. In the day that Elohim created man, He made him in the likeness of Elohim.
2 Male and female He created them, and He blessed them, and called their name ‘Aḏam’ in the day they were created.
3 And Aḏam lived one hundred and thirty years, and brought forth a son in his own likeness, after his image, and called his name Shĕth.
4 And after he brought forth Shĕth, the days of Aḏam were eight hundred years. And he brought forth sons and daughters.
5 So all the days that Aḏam lived were nine hundred and thirty years, and he died.
6 And Shĕth lived one hundred and five years, and brought forth Enosh.
7 And after he brought forth Enosh, Shĕth lived eight hundred and seven years, and brought forth sons and daughters.
8 So all the days of Shĕth were nine hundred and twelve years, and he died.
9 And Enosh lived ninety years, and brought forth Qĕynan.
10 And after he brought forth Qĕynan, Enosh lived eight hundred and fifteen years, and brought forth sons and daughters.
11 So all the days of Enosh were nine hundred and five years, and he died.
12 And Qĕynan lived seventy years, and brought forth Mahalal’ĕl.
13 After he brought forth Mahalal’ĕl, Qĕynan lived eight hundred and forty years, and brought forth sons and daughters.
14 So all the days of Qĕynan were nine hundred and ten years, and he died.
15 And Mahalal’ĕl lived sixty-five years, and brought forth Yereḏ.
16 And after he brought forth Yereḏ, Mahalal’ĕl lived eight hundred and thirty years, and brought forth sons and daughters.
17 So all the days of Mahalal’ĕl were eight hundred and ninety-five years, and he died.
18 And Yereḏ lived one hundred and sixty-two years, and brought forth Ḥanoḵ.
19 And after he brought forth Ḥanoḵ, Yereḏ lived eight hundred years, and brought forth sons and daughters.
20 So all the days of Yereḏ were nine hundred and sixty-two years, and he died.
21 And Ḥanoḵ lived sixty-five years, and brought forth Methushelaḥ.
22 And after he brought forth Methushelaḥ, Ḥanoḵ walked with Elohim three hundred years, and brought forth sons and daughters.
23 So all the days of Ḥanoḵ were three hundred and sixty-five years.
24 And Ḥanoḵ walked with Elohim. Then he was no more, for Elohim took him.
25 And Methushelaḥ lived one hundred and eighty-seven years, and brought forth Lemeḵ.
26 And after he brought forth Lemeḵ, Methushelaḥ lived seven hundred and eighty-two years, and brought forth sons and daughters.
27 So all the days of Methushelaḥ were nine hundred and sixty-nine years, and he died.
28 And Lemeḵ lived one hundred and eighty-two years, and brought forth a son,
29 and called his name Noaḥ, saying, “This one does comfort us concerning our work and the toil of our hands, because of the ground which יהוה has cursed.”
30 And after he brought forth Noaḥ, Lemeḵ lived five hundred and ninety-five years, and brought forth sons and daughters.
31 So all the days of Lemeḵ were seven hundred and seventy-seven years, and he died.
32 And Noaḥ was five hundred years old, and Noaḥ brought forth Shĕm, Ḥam, and Yepheth.
6 | 1 And it came to be, when men began to increase on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them,
2 that the sons of Elohim saw the daughters of men, that they were good. And they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose.
3 And יהוה said, “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever in his going astray. He is flesh, and his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.”
4 The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of Elohim came in to the daughters of men and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, the men of name.
5 And יהוה saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
6 And יהוה was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart.
7 And יהוה said, “I am going to wipe off man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping creature and birds of the heavens, for I am sorry that I have made them.”
8 But Noaḥ found favour in the eyes of יהוה.
9 This is the genealogy of Noaḥ. Noaḥ was a righteous man, perfect in his generations. Noaḥ walked with Elohim.
10 And Noaḥ brought forth three sons: Shĕm, Ḥam, and Yepheth.
11 And the earth was corrupt before Elohim, and the earth was filled with violence.
12 And Elohim looked upon the earth and saw that it was corrupt – for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth –
13 and Elohim said to Noaḥ, “The end of all flesh has come before Me, for the earth is filled with violence through them. And see, I am going to destroy them from the earth.
14 “Make yourself an ark of gopherwood. Make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and outside with tar.
15 “And this is how you are to make it: The length of the ark is three hundred cubits, its width fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits.
16 “Make a window for the ark, and complete it to a cubit from above. And set the door of the ark in its side. Make it with lower, second, and third decks.
17 “And see, I Myself am bringing floodwaters on the earth, to destroy all flesh in which is the breath of life from under the heavens – all that is on the earth is to die.
18 “And I shall establish My covenant with you, and you shall come into the ark, you and your sons and your wife and your sons’ wives with you.
19 “And of all the living creatures of all flesh, two of each, you are to bring into the ark, to keep them alive with you – a male and a female.
20 “Of the birds after their kind, and of the cattle after their kind, and of all creeping creatures of the earth after their kind, two of each are to come to you, to keep them alive.
21 “As for you, take of all food that is eaten and gather it to yourself. And it shall be food for you and for them.”
22 And Noaḥ did according to all that Elohim commanded him, so he did.
7 | 1 And יהוה said to Noaḥ, “Come into the ark, you and all your household, because I have seen that you are righteous before Me in this generation.
2 “Of all the clean beasts take with you seven pairs, a male and his female; and of the beasts that are unclean two, a male and his female;
3 and of birds of the heavens seven pairs, male and female, to keep offspring alive on the face of all the earth.
4 “For after seven more days I am sending rain on the earth, forty days and forty nights, and shall wipe from the face of the earth all that stand that I created.”
5 And Noaḥ did according to all that יהוה commanded him.
6 Now Noaḥ was six hundred years old when the flood-waters were on the earth.
7 And Noaḥ and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives went into the ark because of the waters of the flood.
8 Of the clean beasts and of the beasts that are unclean, and of birds, and of all that creep on the earth,
9 two by two they went into the ark to Noaḥ, male and female, as Elohim had commanded Noaḥ.
10 And it came to be after seven days that the waters of the flood were on the earth.
11 In the six hundredth year of Noaḥ’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of the heavens were opened.
12 And the rain was on the earth forty days and forty nights.
13 On that same day Noaḥ and Shĕm and Ḥam and Yepheth, the sons of Noaḥ, and Noaḥ’s wife and the three wives of his sons with them, went into the ark,
14 they and every living creature after its kind, and every beast after its kind, and every creeping creature that creeps on the earth after its kind, and every bird after its kind, every bird of every sort.
15 And they went into the ark to Noaḥ, two by two, of all flesh in which is the breath of life.
16And those going in, male and female of all flesh, went in as Elohim had commanded him, and יהוה shut him in.
17 And the flood was on the earth forty days, and the waters increased and lifted up the ark, and it rose high above the earth.
18 And the waters were mighty and greatly increased on the earth, and the ark moved about on the surface of the waters.
19 And the waters were exceedingly mighty on the earth, and all the high mountains under all the heavens were covered.
20 The waters became mighty, fifteen cubits upward, and the mountains were covered.
21 And all flesh died that moved on the earth – birds and cattle and beasts and every creeping creature that creeps on the earth, and all mankind.
22 All in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life, all that was on the dry land, died.
23 So He wiped off all that stand, which were on the face of the ground – both man and beast, creeping creature and bird of the heavens. And they were wiped off from the earth. And only Noaḥ was left, and those with him in the ark.
24 And the waters were mighty on the earth, one hundred and fifty days.
8 | 1 And Elohim remembered Noaḥ, and all the beasts and all the cattle that were with him in the ark. And Elohim made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters subsided.
2 And the fountains of the deep and the windows of the heavens were stopped, and the rain from the heavens was withheld.
3 And the waters receded steadily from the earth, and at the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters diminished.
4 And in the seventh month, the seventeenth day of the month, the ark rested on the mountains of Ararat.
5 And the waters decreased steadily until the tenth month. In the tenth month, on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains became visible.
6 And it came to be, at the end of forty days, that Noaḥ opened the window of the ark which he had made,
7 and he sent out a raven, which kept going out and turning back until the waters had dried up from the earth.
8 Then he sent out a dove from him, to see if the waters had receded from the face of the ground.
9 But the dove found no resting place for its feet and returned into the ark to him, for the waters were on the face of all the earth. So he put out his hand and took it, and pulled it into the ark to himself.
10 And he waited yet another seven days, and again he sent the dove out from the ark.
11 And the dove came to him in the evening, and see, a freshly plucked olive leaf was in its mouth. And Noaḥ knew that the waters had receded from the earth.
12 And he waited yet another seven days and sent out the dove, which did not return to him again.
13 And it came to be in the six hundred and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, that the waters were dried up from the earth. And Noaḥ removed the covering of the ark and looked, and saw the surface of the ground was dry.
14 And in the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dry.
15 And Elohim spoke to Noaḥ, saying,
16 “Go out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and your sons’ wives with you.
17 “Bring out with you every living creature of all flesh that is with you: of birds, of cattle and all creeping creatures that creep on the earth. And let them teem on the earth, and bear and increase on the earth.”
18 So Noaḥ went out, and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives with him,
19 every beast, every creeping creature, and every bird, whatever creeps on the earth, according to their kinds, went out of the ark.
20 And Noaḥ built an altar to יהוה, and took of every clean beast and of every clean bird, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.
21 And יהוה smelled a soothing fragrance, and יהוה said in His heart, “Never again shall I curse the ground because of man, although the inclination of man’s heart is evil from his youth, and never again smite all living creatures, as I have done,
22 as long as the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and winter and summer, and day and night shall not cease.”
Joel 1:1 – 20
1| 1 The word of יהוה that came to Yo’ĕl son of Pethu’ĕl.
2 Hear this, you elders, and give ear, all you inhabitants of the land! Has this ever been in your days, or even in the days of your fathers?
3 Relate it to your children, and your children to their children, and their children to the generation after them.
4 What the gnawing locust left the swarming locust has eaten, and what the swarming locust left the crawling locust has eaten, and what the crawling locust left the consuming locust has eaten.
5 Wake up, you drunkards, and weep. And wail, all you drinkers of wine, on account of the new wine, for it has been cut off from your mouth.
6 For a nation has come up against My land, strong, and innumerable. Its teeth are the teeth of a lion, and it has the fangs of a lioness.
7 It has laid waste My vine and splintered My fig tree. It has made it entirely bare and cast it away, its branches became white.
8 Wail like a maiden girded with sackcloth for the husband of her youth.
9 The grain offering and the drink offering have been cut off from the House of יהוה. The priests, servants of יהוה, have mourned.
10 The field is ravaged, the ground has mourned, for the grain is ruined, the new wine has dried up, the oil fails.
11 The farmers are ashamed, the vinedressers wail over the wheat and over the barley, for the harvest of the field is destroyed.
12 The vine has dried up, and the fig tree droops, pomegranate, also palm, and apple tree, all the trees of the field are dried up, because joy has dried up among the sons of men.
13 Gird yourselves and lament, you priests. Wail, you attendants of the altar. Come, lie all night in sackcloth, you attendants of my Elohim. For the grain offering and the drink offering are withheld from the house of your Elohim.
14 Set apart a fast. Call an assembly, gather the elders, all the inhabitants of the land, into the House of יהוה your Elohim, and cry out to יהוה.
15 Alas for the day! For the day of יהוה is near, and it comes as destruction from the Almighty.
16 Is not the food cut off before our eyes, joy and gladness from the House of our Elohim?
17 The seed has rotted under their clods, storehouses are laid waste, granaries are broken down, for the grain has withered.
18 How the beasts moan! The herds of cattle are restless, because they have no pasture. The flocks of sheep also perish.
19 I cry to You יהוה, for fire has consumed the pastures of the wilderness, and a flame has set on fire all the trees of the field.
20 Even the beasts of the field cry out to You, for the water streams are dried up, and fire has consumed the pastures of the wilderness.
Joshua 3:1-4:24
3 | 1 And Yehoshua rose early in the morning, and they set out from Shittim and came to the Yardĕn, he and all the children of Yisra’ĕl, and stayed there before they passed over.
2 And it came to be, after three days, that the officers went into the midst of the camp,
3 and they commanded the people, saying, “When you see the ark of the covenant of יהוה your Elohim, and the priests, the Lĕwites, bearing it, then you shall set out from your place and follow it.
4 “Only, keep a distance between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure. Do not come near it, so that you know which way to go, for you have not passed over this way before.”
5 And Yehoshua said to the people, “Set yourselves apart, for tomorrow יהוה is doing wonders in your midst.”
6 And Yehoshua spoke to the priests, saying, “Take up the ark of the covenant and pass over before the people.” So they took up the ark of the covenant and went before the people.
7 And יהוה said to Yehoshua, “This day I begin to make you great before the eyes of all Yisra’ĕl, so that they know that I am with you as I was with Mosheh.
8 “And you, command the priests who bear the ark of the covenant, saying, ‘When you come to the edge of the water of the Yardĕn, stand in the Yardĕn.’ ”
9 And Yehoshua said to the children of Yisra’ĕl, “Come near, and hear the words of יהוה your Elohim.”
10 And Yehoshua said, “By this you shall know that the living Ěl is in your midst, and that He is certainly driving out from before you the Kena‛anites and the Ḥittites and the Ḥiwwites and the Perizzites and the Girgashites and the Amorites and the Yeḇusites:
11 “See, the ark of the covenant of the Master of all the earth is passing over before you into the Yardĕn.
12 “And now, take for yourselves twelve men from the tribes of Yisra’ĕl, one man from every tribe.
13 “And it shall be, as soon as the soles of the feet of the priests who bear the ark of יהוה, the Master of all the earth, come to rest in the waters of the Yardĕn, that the waters of the Yardĕn are cut off, the waters that come down from upstream, and stand as a heap.”
14 And it came to be, when the people set out from their tents to pass over the Yardĕn, with the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people,
15 and as those bearing the ark came to the Yardĕn, and the feet of the priests bearing the ark dipped in the edge of the water – now the Yardĕn overflows all its banks during all the time of harvest –
16 that the waters which came down from upstream stood still, and rose in a heap very far away at Aḏam, the city that is beside Tsarethan. And the waters going down into the Sea of the Araḇah, the Salt Sea, were completely cut off. And the people passed over opposite Yeriḥo.
17 And the priests bearing the ark of the covenant of יהוה stood firm on dry ground in the midst of the Yardĕn. And all Yisra’ĕl passed over on dry ground, until all the nation had completely passed over the Yardĕn.
4 | 1 And it came to be, when the entire nation had completely passed over the Yardĕn, that יהוה spoke to Yehoshua, saying,
2 “Take for yourselves twelve men from the people, one man from every tribe,
3 and command them, saying, ‘Take for yourselves twelve stones from here, out of the midst of the Yardĕn, from the place where the priests’ feet stood firm. And you shall bring them with you and leave them in the camp in which you spend the night.’ ”
4 And Yehoshua called the twelve men whom he had appointed from the children of Yisra’ĕl, one man from every tribe,
5 and Yehoshua said to them, “Pass over before the ark of יהוה your Elohim into the midst of the Yardĕn, and each one of you take up a stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Yisra’ĕl,
6 so that this shall be a sign in your midst when your children ask in time to come, saying, ‘What do these stones mean to you?’
7 “Then you shall answer them that the waters of the Yardĕn were cut off before the ark of the covenant of יהוה. When it passed over the Yardĕn, the waters of the Yardĕn were cut off. And these stones shall be for a remembrance to the children of Yisra’ĕl forever.”
8 And the children of Yisra’ĕl did so, as Yehoshua commanded, and took up twelve stones from the midst of the Yardĕn, as יהוה had spoken to Yehoshua, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Yisra’ĕl, and took them over with them to their camp, and laid them down there.
9 Yehoshua also set up twelve stones in the midst of the Yardĕn, in the place where the feet of the priests who bore the ark of the covenant stood. And they are there to this day.
10 And the priests who bore the ark stood in the midst of the Yardĕn until every matter was finished that יהוה had commanded Yehoshua to speak to the people, according to all that Mosheh had commanded Yehoshua. And the people hastened and passed over.
11 And it came to be, when all the people had completely passed over, that the ark of יהוה and the priests passed over in the presence of the people.
12 And the sons of Re’uḇĕn, and the sons of Gaḏ, and half the tribe of Menashsheh passed over in fives before the children of Yisra’ĕl, as Mosheh had spoken to them.
13 About forty thousand armed ones of the army passed over before יהוה for battle, to the desert plains of Yeriḥo.
14 On that day יהוה made Yehoshua great before the eyes of all Yisra’ĕl. And they feared him, as they had feared Mosheh, all the days of his life.
15 And יהוה spoke to Yehoshua, saying,
16 “Command the priests who bear the ark of the Witness, and let them come up from the Yardĕn.”
17 And Yehoshua commanded the priests, saying, “Come up from the Yardĕn.”
18 And it came to be, when the priests who bore the ark of the covenant of יהוה had come from the midst of the Yardĕn, and the soles of the priests’ feet touched the dry land, that the waters of the Yardĕn returned to their place and flowed over all its banks as before.
19 And the people came up from the Yardĕn on the tenth day of the first month, and they camped in Gilgal on the east border of Yeriḥo.
20 And those twelve stones which they took out of the Yardĕn, Yehoshua set up in Gilgal.
21 And he said to the children of Yisra’ĕl, saying, “When your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, ‘What are these stones?’
22 then you shall let your children know, saying, ‘Yisra’ĕl passed over this Yardĕn on dry land,’
23 for יהוה your Elohim dried up the waters of the Yardĕn before you until you had passed over, as יהוה your Elohim did to the Sea of Reeds, which He dried up before us until we had passed over,
24 so that all the peoples of the earth shall know the hand of יהוה, that it is strong, so that you shall fear יהוה your Elohim forever.”
Matthew 3:1 – 4:25
3 | 1 And in those days Yoḥanan the Immerser came proclaiming in the wilderness of Yehuḏah,
2 and saying, “Repent, for the reign of the heavens has come near!”
3 For this is he who was spoken of by the prophet Yeshayahu, saying, “A voice of one crying in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way of יהוה, make His paths straight.’ ”a
4 And Yoḥanan had a garment of camel’s hair, and a leather girdle around his waist. And his food was locusts and wild honey.
5 Then Yerushalayim, and all Yehuḏah, and all the country around the Yardĕn went out to him,
6 and they were immersed by him in the Yardĕn, confessing their sins.
7 And seeing many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his immersion, he said to them, “Brood of adders! Who has warned you to flee from the coming wrath?
8 “Bear, therefore, fruits worthy of repentance,
9 and do not think to say to yourselves, ‘We have Aḇraham as father.’a For I say to you that Elohim is able to raise up children to Aḇraham from these stones.
10 “And the axe is already laid to the root of the trees. Every tree, then, which does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
11 “I indeed immerse you in water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to bear. He shall immerse you in the Set-apart Spirit and fire.
12 “His winnowing fork is in His hand, and He shall thoroughly cleanse His threshing-floor, and gather His wheat into the storehouse, but the chaff He shall burn with unquenchable fire.”
13 Then יהושע came from Galil to Yoḥanan at the Yardĕn to be immersed by him.
14 But Yoḥanan was hindering Him, saying, “I need to be immersed by You, and You come to me?”
15 But יהושע answering, said to him, “Permit it now, for thus it is fitting for us to fill all righteousness.” Then he permitted Him.
16 And having been immersed, יהושע went up immediately from the water, and see, the heavens were opened, and He saw the Spirit of Elohim descending like a dove and coming upon Him,
17 and see, a voice out of the heavens, saying, “This is My Son, the Beloved, in whom I did delight.”
4 | 1 Then יהושע was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tried by the devil.
2 And after having fasted forty days and forty nights, He was hungry.
3 And the trier came and said to Him, “If You are the Son of Elohim, command that these stones become bread.”
4 But He answering, said, “It has been written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of יהוה.’ ”a
5 Then the devil took Him up into the set-apart city, set Him on the edge of the Set-apart Place,
6 and said to Him, “If You are the Son of Elohim, throw Yourself down. For it has been written, ‘He shall command His messengers concerning you,’ and, ‘In their hands they shall bear you up, so that you do not dash your foot against a stone.’ ”
7 יהושע said to him, “It has also been written, ‘You shall not try יהוה your Elohim.’ ”a
8 Again, the devil took Him up on a very high mountain, and showed Him all the reigns of the world, and their esteem,
9 and said to Him, “All these I shall give You if You fall down and worship me.”
10 Then יהושע said to him, “Go, Satan! For it has been written, ‘You shall worship יהוה your Elohim, and Him alone you shall serve.’ ”a
11 Then the devil left Him, and see, messengers came and attended Him.
12 And יהושע, having heard that Yoḥanan had been put in prison, withdrew into Galil.
13 And leaving Natsareth, He came and dwelt in Kephar Naḥum, which is by the sea, in the borders of Zeḇulun and Naphtali,
14 to fill what was spoken by Yeshayahu the prophet, saying,
15 “Land of Zeḇulun and land of Naphtali, the way of the sea, beyond the Yardĕn, Galil of the gentiles –
16 the people who sat in darkness saw a great light, and upon those who sat in the land and shadow of death, light arose to them.”a
17 From that time יהושע began to proclaim and to say, “Repent, for the reign of the heavens has drawn near.”
18 And יהושע, walking by the Sea of Galil, saw two brothers, Shim‛on called Kĕpha, and Andri his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen.
19 And He said to them, “Follow Me, and I shall make you fishers of men.”
20 And immediately they left their nets and followed Him.
21 And going on from there, He saw two other brothers, Ya‛aqoḇ the son of Zaḇdai, and Yoḥanan his brother, in the boat with Zaḇdai their father, mending their nets. And He called them,
22 and immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed Him.
23 And יהושע went about all Galil, teaching in their congregations, and proclaiming the Good News of the reign, and healing every disease and every bodily weakness among the people.
24 And news about Him went out into all Syria. And they brought to Him all who were sick, afflicted with various diseases and pains, and those who were demon-possessed, and epileptics, and paralytics. And He healed them.
25 And large crowds – from Galil, and Dekapolis, and Yerushalayim, and Yehuḏah, and beyond the Yardĕn – followed Him.
Psalms 5:1 – 7:17
1 | 1 Give ear to my words, O יהוה, Consider my meditation.
2 Attend to the voice of my cry, My Sovereign and my Elohim, For unto You I pray.
3 O יהוה, in the morning You hear my voice; I present myself to You in the morning, And I look up.
4 For You are not an Ěl taking delight in wrong, Nor does evil dwell with You.
5 The boasters do not stand before Your eyes; You hate all workers of wickedness.
6 You destroy those speaking falsehood; יהוה loathes a man of blood and deceit.
7 But I, I enter Your house In the greatness of Your kindness; I bow myself toward Your set-apart Hĕḵal in Your fear.
8 O יהוה, lead me in Your righteousness because of those watching me; Make Your way straight before my face.
9 For there is no stability in their mouth; Their inward part is destruction; Their throat is an open grave; They flatter with their tongue.
10 Declare them guilty, O Elohim! Let them fall by their own counsels; Thrust them away for their many transgressions, Because they have rebelled against You.
11 But let all who take refuge in You rejoice; Let them ever shout for joy, because You shelter them; And let those who love Your Name exult in You.
12 For You bless the righteous, O יהוה; You surround him with favour as with a shield.
6 | 1 O יהוה, do not rebuke me in Your displeasure, Nor discipline me in Your wrath.
2 Show favour to me, O יהוה, for I am fading away; O יהוה, heal me, for my bones have been troubled.
3 And my being has been greatly troubled; And You, O יהוה – till when?
4 Return, O יהוה, rescue my life! Oh, save me for Your kindness’ sake!
5 For in death there is no remembrance of You; Who gives You thanks in the grave?
6 I have grown weary with my groaning; Every night I flood my bed; I drench my couch with my tears.
7 My eye has grown dim because of grief; It grows old because of all my adversaries.
8 Depart from me, all you workers of wickedness; For יהוה has heard the voice of my weeping.
9 יהוה has heard my pleading; יהוה receives my prayer.
10 Let all my enemies be ashamed and greatly troubled; They turn back suddenly, ashamed.
7 | 1 O יהוה my Elohim, in You I have taken refuge; Save me from all my pursuers; And deliver me,
2 Lest they tear at my throat like a lion, Rending in pieces, with no one to deliver.
3 O יהוה my Elohim, if I have done this: If there is unrighteousness in my hands,
4 If I have done evil to him who was at peace with me, Or have plundered my enemy without cause,
5 Let the enemy pursue me and overtake my being, And trample my life to the ground, And lay my esteem in the dust. Selah.
6 Arise, O יהוה, in Your displeasure; Lift Yourself up against the rage of my adversaries, And awake for me! You shall command judgment!
7 And let the congregation of the peoples gather about You; And over them return on high.
8 יהוה judges the peoples; Judge me, O יהוה, according to my righteousness, And according to my integrity within me.
9 Please let the evil of the wrong be ended, And establish the righteous; For the righteous Elohim is a trier of hearts and kidneys.
10 My shield is upon Elohim, Who saves the upright in heart.
11 Elohim is a righteous judge. And Ěl is enraged every day,
12 If one does not repent! He sharpens His sword, He bends His bow and makes it ready,
13 And He has prepared for Himself instruments of death, He makes His arrows hot for pursuers.
14 See, he who is bound with wickedness, And has conceived trouble and brought forth falsehood,
15 He has made a pit and dug it out, And falls into the ditch he made!
16 His trouble turns back upon his own head, And his wrongdoing comes down on the top of his head.
17 I give thanks to יהוה according to His righteousness, And praise the Name of יהוה Most High.
Jubilees 2:1-33
(CEPHER TRANSLATION)
1|1 And the angel of the presence spoke to Mosheh according to the Word of YAHUAH, saying: Write the complete history of the creation, how in six days YAHUAH ELOHIYM finished all his works and all that he created, and kept Shabbath on the seventh day and sanctified it for all ages, and appointed it as a sign for all his works.
2 For on the first day he created the heavens which are above and the earth and the waters and all the ruachoth which serve before him the angels of the presence, and the angels of sanctification, and the angels of the ruach of fire and the angels of the ruach of the winds, and the angels of the ruach of the clouds, and of darkness, and of snow and of hail and of hoar frost, and the angels of the voices and of the thunder and of the lightning, and the angels of the ruachoth of cold and of heat, and of winter and of spring and of autumn and of summer and of all the ruachoth of his creatures which are in the heavens and on the earth,
3 He created the abysses and the darkness, evening and night, and the light, dawn and day, which he has prepared in the knowledge of his heart. And thereupon we saw his works, and praised him, and lauded before him on account of all his works; for seven great works did he create on the first day.
4 And on the second day he created the expanse in the midst of the waters, and the waters were divided on that day half of them went up above and half of them went down below the expanse that was in the midst over the face of the whole earth. And this was the only work ELOHIYM created on the second day.
5 And on the third day he commanded the waters to pass from off the face of the whole earth into one place, and the dry land to appear.
6 And the waters did so as he commanded them, and they retired from off the face of the earth into one place outside of this expanse, and the dry land appeared.
7 And on that day he created for them all the seas according to their separate gathering places, and all the rivers, and the gatherings of the waters in the mountains and on all the earth, and all the lakes, and all the dew of the earth, and the seed which is sown, and all sprouting things, and fruit bearing trees, and trees of the wood, and the Garden of Eden, in Eden and all.
8 These four great works ELOHIYM created on the third day.
9 And on the fourth day he created the sun and the moon and the stars, and set them in the expanse of the heaven, to give light upon all the earth, and to rule over the day and the night, and divide the light from the darkness. And ELOHIYM appointed the sun to be a great sign on the earth for days and for Shabbathoth and for months and for feasts and for years and for Shabbathoth of years and for jubilees and for all seasons of the years.
10 And it divides the light from the darkness and for prosperity, that all things may prosper which shoot and grow on the earth. These three kinds he made on the fourth day.
11 And on the fifth day he created great sea monsters in the depths of the waters, for these were the first things of flesh that were created by his hands, the fish and everything that moves in the waters, and everything that flies, the birds and all their kind.
12 And the sun rose above them to prosper them, and above everything that was on the earth, everything that shoots out of the earth, and all fruit bearing trees, and all flesh.
13 These three kinds he created on the fifth day.
14 And on the sixth day he created all the animals of the earth, and all cattle, and everything that moves on the earth.
15 And after all this he created man, a man and a woman created he them, and gave him dominion over all that is upon the earth, and in the seas, and over everything that flies, and over beasts and over cattle, and over everything that moves on the earth, and over the whole earth, and over all this he gave him dominion. And these four kinds he created on the sixth day.
16 And there were altogether two and twenty kinds.
17 And he finished all his work on the sixth day all that is in the heavens and on the earth, and in the seas and in the abysses, and in the light and in the darkness, and in everything.
18 And he gave us a great sign, the Shabbath, that we should work six days, but guard the Shabbath on the seventh day from all work.
19 And all the angels of the presence, and all the angels of sanctification, these two great classes he has bidden us to guard the Shabbath with him in heaven and on earth.
20 And he said unto us: Behold, I will separate unto myself a people from among all the peoples, and these shall guard the Shabbath, and I will sanctify them unto myself as my people, and will bless them; as I have sanctified the Shabbath and do sanctify it unto myself, even so will I bless them, and they shall be my people and I will be their ELOHIYM.
21 And I have chosen the seed of Ya`aqov from amongst all that I have seen, and have written him down as my firstborn son, and have sanctified him unto myself forever and ever; and I will teach them the Shabbath, that they may guard the Shabbath thereon from all work.
22 And thus he created therein a sign in accordance with which they should guard the Shabbath with us on the seventh day, to eat and to drink, and to bless him who has created all things as he has blessed and sanctified unto himself a peculiar people above all peoples, and that they should guard the Shabbath together with us.
23 And he caused his commands to ascend as a sweet savour acceptable before him all the days.
24 There were two and twenty heads of mankind from A’dam to Ya`aqov, and two and twenty kinds of work were made until the seventh day; this is blessed and holy; and the former also is blessed and holy; and this one serves with that one for sanctification and blessing.
25 And to this Ya`aqov and his seed it was granted that they should always be the blessed and qodeshiym of the first testimony and Torah, even as he had sanctified and blessed the Shabbath on the seventh day.
26 He created heaven and earth and everything that he created in six days, and ELOHIYM made the seventh day holy, for all his works; therefore he commanded on its behalf that, whosoever does any work thereon shall die, and that he who defiles it shall surely die.
27 Wherefore do you command the children of Yashar’el to observe this day that they may keep it holy and not do thereon any work, and not to defile it, as it is holier than all other days.
28 And whosoever profanes it shall surely die, and whosoever does thereon any work shall surely die eternally, that the children of Yashar’el may observe this day throughout their generations, and not be rooted out of the land; for it is a holy day and a blessed day.
29 And everyone who observes it and guards Shabbath thereon from all his work, will be holy and blessed throughout all days like unto us.
30 Declare and say to the children of Yashar’el the Torah of this day both that they should guard the Shabbath thereon, and that they should not forsake it in the error of their hearts; and that it is against the Torah to do any work thereon which is unseemly, to do thereon their own pleasure, and that they should not prepare thereon anything to be eaten or drunk, and that it is against the Torah to draw water, or bring in or take out thereon through their gates any burden, which they had not prepared for themselves on the sixth day in their dwellings.
31 And they shall not bring in nor take out from house to house on that day; for that day is more holy and blessed than any jubilee day of the jubilees; on this we kept Shabbath in the heavens before it was made known to any flesh to guard the Shabbath thereon on the earth.
32 And the Creator of all things blessed it, but he did not sanctify all peoples and nations to guard the Shabbath thereon, but Yashar’el alone: them alone he permitted to eat and drink and to guard the Shabbath thereon on the earth.
33 And the Creator of all things blessed this day which he had created for blessing and holiness and glory above all days. This Torah and testimony was given to the children of Yashar’el as a Torah forever unto their generations.
Thank you for joining us as we read through the entire WORD of GOD! As for me and My House, we will serve the LORD.
